Has closed down after 200 years .
I have Denby stuff .
I have always liked it ,

I inherited a load of decorative plates. I found some bills and one at least cost £60 back in the 80s or 90s.
Worth next to nothing on eBay so I put together a website selling them at high prices and did manage to get rid of quite a lot but there are still lots left.

They never sold in sets. Always just an individual plate. I think people had knocked them off Granny's wall or cabinet and were replacing them.

I gave up on the site when it had been over a year since I sold one. I doubt even charity shops would be keen. My father thought they would be an investment. Some were marginally attractive but others were, imo at least, hideous.

I have lovely Denby dinner plates they are not fancy just simple and I use them every day and have done for years . I have never had a 'set' as such I just buy what I actually need and like .
So my Denby stuff ( apart from the dinner plates ) doesn't match .

Nothing like that in my home.. I don't even have a complete dinner/tea set..
If I see something in the charity shop that catches my eye .. such as a dinner plate .. cup.. tea plate.. I buy it.
All mishmash... I'm probably sitting on a fortune..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

klondike, lots of people bought decorative plates, in sets, from companies like Danbury Mint as an investment.  I was part of a small group that ran a stall, for charity, in an antiques centre years ago.  An auctioneers gave us a talk on various items, and he said many of those decorative plates had little value.  We get £1 or £2 in the charity shop.

I like Denby for every day use, I've also got a few bits of Hornsea, we used to visit the potteries there years ago.  Both sell well in the shop.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Oh what a shame, love Denby

Scrumps,  I am exactly the same as you.   No complete sets of anything,  I would never use it anyway.

Like you,  if I see something pretty in a charity shop,  I will buy it.
I'll tell you what I have bought a few of . . .  pretty little china flower vases,  just small ones,  not great big things.    I love it when I can cut just a few flowers from my garden and I've got a pretty little vase to put them in.

My favourite flower (vase) is a pineapple jam jar..
Many, many years ago an elderly lady neighbour died.. and in her junk shed was this jam jar..
It must have been sold in its thousands way back.. Embossed pineapple markings..
Just an old jam jar with daises sitting inside looks so pretty.. And my old neighbour Peggy comes to mind..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..
