I have been married twice.

First time was a white wedding in church,  I was only 18,  and then a honeymoon in Malta.   (The first and only time I have been abroad).    We divorced some years later,  but we always stayed good friends, and he would have always helped me.   Even though we had divorced, he never forgot my birthday and  sent me a card every single year.  Sadly, the poor man died about 4 years ago.

The second time, years later,   was in a Registry Office,   he was a farmer.   We only went away for a few days because it was coming up to harvest time, so he was very busy.

Been on my own over 20 years now.

I still have a T shirt from my first husband when he was a young man .
I wore it for riding .
Yesterday I thought I must get rid of this I will cut it up for using for painting rags .( it's nice soft cotton)

I just couldn't do it .

No point in doing something you can't undo again should you regret it.

Yes, I had a white wedding in church, a church near where the wife lived with her parents.
I have never been to the church before (or afterwards) and I don't think the wife or her parents have.  Still the vicar was a very pleasant chap and had no problems with us using his church and his services.  I suspect that we both assured him that we believe in God which, I ought to add, is not the case in reality!
Still, I'm sure we paid some money, thought I can't remember what the amount might have been.
I also asked the organist if he could play a specific piece and he agreed if I provided him with the music score, which I happily did.  Although the piece was new to him, he performed it perfectly, and I am very grateful that he took the trouble to learn and practice it.
I suppose I now feel a bit guilty for us not using the church since, though of course we now live well away from Bradfordistan.
(I'm a little concerned that when I die I might go to Hell, as I made a few small lies at the time!)

Death bed conversion to Catholicism, a quick confession and you're sorted if you really are worried. I must admit to steering clear of churches if there is even the hint of a thunderstorm about
