I agree
The thing is parenting is hard yakker
Parents don't like being disliked by their child which sometimes happens when they have to lay down the law .
But you are not you child's best buddy you are it's parent..
Time is another thing
Parents both work and the child is rushed from from pilar to post is left in play groups etc
A child really needs constant focused attention especially in its early years.
From its parents .
When mothers stayed at home this was usually a given.
Now so many mothers prefer their smart phones rather than giving their children attention .

I agree,   especially for repeat offenders.

Even with both parents working they should parent. I worked from my kids being quite young, fortunate when OH had a heart attack and I had to support us both! Our kids grew up with a work ethic.  Daughter and daughter in law both had careers, the older grandchildren both have part time jobs, never been in any trouble.  I don't think the offspring of hard working parents will be the prime culprits,  I think there have always been feckless parents, you're right, phones haven't helped.

Children are starting school in nappies, they don't know what cutlery 🍴 is for, they've never looked at a book.   📖
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Yes,  I have read that too, Granny.    Hard to imagine isn't it.
