I was watching the telly last night, and there was a programme on about  the shops we loved and lost.

Remember  C&A,  Radio Rentals, Dolcis shoes, British Home stores, Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins, Selfridges, Woolworths,  Freeman Hardy and Willis,  and many more.

It also us back to when Mothers used to have to leave the pram outside shops.  Remember that?
We daren't do that nowadays.

Most Grannies had blue rinses.

Kids school uniforms were often bought a bit too big to last a bit longer,   and we were told we would  'grow into them.'

Local police would think nothing of giving kids a clip round the ear if they misbehaved.
They'd be in trouble for doing that nowadays.
Violence and thieves are hardly punished any more.  We were taught to respect our elders.

All todays changes have sneaked up on us over the years,  and will continue.
I wonder what life will be like when our kids are the age we are now?

I do miss those old shops and much prefer them to all the Nail Bars and Tattoo parlours that have taken over our high streets now.

We never realised we were witnessing the end of the high trust society.

I too watched much of the programmes shown ..
 It brought  back many memories..
Woolworths and C&A are still operating in some countries..

Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Can you remember when the Mothers had to leave their prams and babies outside shops, Scrumps?

Mind you,  prams were huge things then, not like little buggies they use nowadays.
I remember my son had a Silver Cross.

I do.. Children left outside shops in prams and pushchairs.. Passersby would talk to the child.. even tickle it's chin.. !!
Now it is not safe to keep the dog outside the shop..

Very true.
So many changes since we were youngsters,  and not all for the better either,  especially manners.

That's a good way of putting it sadly.

Nowadays our door is always locked, 🔐 padlock on the garden gate and the shed.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Yes, that is beyond understanding. The judge isn't fit for purpose.
How will those poor girls ever get over it?!
