Just had a telephone call from the booking office (trains).
A woman with a well spoken English accent confirming my purchase of a travel ticket ..
She quoted destination and cost..
'If this is not you ,please press one to put you through to the Visa fraud department'

She sounded so convincing... I feel for those who are not quite on the ball when it comes to scam calls..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

We have to be so careful nowadays, how many older folk might not think and just press one  :downvote:

I'm so very suspicious of unknown phone numbers that I mostly let it go to voicemail. If it's important and I don't think it's a scam I phone straight back, If I'd got the call about the train ticket ect I'd have opened my banking app and checked right away, I always always know what's what with my accounts and would see at once if anything was different.
Scams are one of my obsessions and I'm always alert for them.

I'm with TalkTalk, and my landline won't let anyone through unless I approve it.

I detest these wasters.
I do the same as Raven and let unknown numbers go straight to the answerphone.  They never speak then.

I have also been getting loads of scam emails lately too.  I've just cleared about 5 that came only this afternoon!
