On the assault at Manchester airport
The jury has been discharged .
I am mystified at why this has been going on so long
There was video evidence of the entire incidence.

The jury has been unable to reach a verdict for the two men involved in the 2024 Manchester Airport police assault.
So presumably the trial has to be retried ?
Must be costing a fortune .

It's extraordinary it appears that certain people in the UK, can beat police officers, and walk free, but if you are the likes of Lucy and tweeted on social media you'd be fast tracked to prison.

I thought it was only one of the charges that couldn't be decided. That's from memory though I think as I'm sure I saw something about this a while ago.

They got one conviction ( breaking the woman pcs nose )
I don't know what they other is about

I see this is a new result from a retrial. It must be the undecided charge from the original trial. I thought some charges had been upheld in that one.

Checking shows there was one conviction from that - https://www.gmp.police.uk/news/greater-manchester/news/news/2025/july/man-convicted-of-assaulting-two-female-police-officers-and-a-member-of-the-public/

They were also charged with assault an a male police officer following the first assault. My pure speculation is that they were in a punch up with other police who maybe didn't stick to the rules after their female colleague had her nose broken

That's what I gathered, Klon.

As they well know there would be no such dithering in their country of origin Pakistan .
The police are issued with guns as well as batons
And they use them

I think it's now long overdue that our police should be the same.
Obviously, only the ones who have shown previously that they are suitably restrained and trustworthy.
On the other hand, I suppose that from the things I have seen on the telly and in the news, there seem to be well-trained armed police in the UK who are instantly available if the need arises.

Yes, more quick-reaction armed police, please, and more police helicopters regionally.
Perhaps I'm biased from watching such events on the telly!

But all that takes money, and there is no money tree..

If we have armed police we'll get more armed criminals and doubtless some collateral damage and more mistaken shootings. They've shot a bloke carrying a table leg in the past. Plus the Brazilian electrician whose only crime was being a bit brown and there are doubtless others.

I am quite surprised that no armed police were available at the airport .
That is where you generally see them

klondike

Yes that's right. Maybe it isn't all parts of the airport there are any.
