A couple of posts made in the Boring thread, made me wonder about our sleep patters changing.

Do you find your need for sleep has changed much over the years?
Do you still set an alarm clock like we did when we had to get up for work, or do you just get up when you wake up?

I have always slept quite a lot, even as a child.   I remember my Mum used to come and wake me up for school,  and as soon as she left the bedroom, I would nod straight off again.

I personally feel better if I've had 8 or even 9 hrs sleep,  as long as its quality sleep, and not disturbed by aches and pains or just can't get off to sleep for some reason.   Its annoying when that happens.

So how many hours do you need to feel well rested and ready for the new day?

I rarely sleep more than 7 hours and it's usually less.

Like you, Mups, I need a lot of sleep, but now it is no longer a solid eight
or nine hours.

I can easily nod off watching the tv in the afternoon.

Good grief Alex,  have you always slept so little, or is it just nowadays?
I don't think I could survive on that for long.

The last 10 years I guess.

Wasn't it Margaret Thatcher who could survive on very little sleep?

I rarely sleep more than four straight hours at a time .
I do doze off again and sleep another couple .

It looks like its only me and CHF  who sleep all night then!

I am quite surprised at how little  sleep others need.
If I need to be up earlier I have to set my alarm,  else I just don't wake up,  even more so in the winter with the dark mornings.

I also have never had a TV  or computer in my bedroom.   I have always read a nice, usually heartwarming,  type book to go to sleep on.    It takes my mind off all the bad news, and rotten things that we hear all  day long.

I can sleep round the clock when my body's too tired. Been doing that quite a bit lately. Dunc keeps going on at me for increasing my pool lengths, I want to get back to 50, I'm at 40 now so only 10 to go. Last time I did it was the day before lock down back at the start of Covid. He keeps reminding me I've gone through a load of trauma and two big operations since then, also I'm 6 years older, says it's too much for me now, and I should be satisfied with the 40.......But I'm not somehow. 😟
