I can understand why people get confused by tech gadgets.

Take my video doorbell. When it detects somebody approaching and me going out come to that it plays a notification tone on my phone.

For no obvious reason the notification tone has changed and it sounds a bit like an ice cream van. The first time it did that I was looking round for one til I realised it was the phone.
Did I change it?
No not to my recollection.
Would I ever bother to select a special tone?
Well maybe as with one doorbell I set it to a barking dog but a bloody ice cream van?

My smartphone outsmarts me all the time; I should have stuck with my old Doro.

My doorbell plays up sometimes too Klondy.  It gives a little chime when I go out, but if someone comes to the door it chimes, then 10 mins later it chimes again so I open the door again but nobody is there.

I dumped Ring when the sub went up massively and took your advice about Blink. It seemed to me to be getting slower and slower announcing the caller and even says playing clips from usb will be slow. I think most of that is to push the subscription.

I got a Reolink 180 degree security camera which records to my Synology NAS and was very impressed so I switched to their doorbell. It is far better at coping with the heavy passing foot traffic and not recording a load of irrelevant stuff.

Quite why it decided to be an ice cream van if it did and it wasn't the phone or my sausage fingers I don't know. I'm not that fussed either so long as I don't confuse it with WhatsApp.
