Sheffield is seen as the home of snooker, and the world championship is in currently, at the Crucible, I popped into the Winter Gardens yesterday,  that's where they do the interviews.  They also have a couple of tables, some of the players interact with the public, getting youngsters up to play a few shots. There's a big screen, with lots of seating in the square outside the Crucible.  In this nice weather, there's a real buzz.

At other times, the Winter gardens, see above, is just a nice, peaceful and warm place to stop for a while.

There seems to be big money in snooker these days, no wonder kids are getting into it

Huge prizes Alex.  Used to be the sign of a misspent youth😁

I got some free tickets for the Seniors tournament yesterday.  Really nice afternoon, went with my son.  Anyone remember Jimmy White? He was playing.  And Dominic Dale, and Ken Doherty.

I've never been interested in snooker, my Mum was though  and I remember the name Jimmy White, he must be knocking on now.

I think he was a mate of Alex Hurricane Higgins. I remember my son said he'd met the pair of them in town when they were playing here once. At least those are the names I recall. That would make it late 80s

He is, late 60s and he hasn't aged well!  And klondike's right about him and Higgins.
