My Mums Mangle

This isn't it but she had one like it .
I remember helping her with the sheets .
They are antiques now 
I wonder what happened to it ?

my mum had one much the same. used to put a big tin bath underneath for the water

My Mum had one too, it stood in the yard with the tin bath next to it

I remember my old Nan having an old mangle like that.   You had to be careful not to get your fingers in the way as you fed laundry though the rollers. 
Then my  Mum got one of this Hoover twin tub washer/spinner machines.   Very upmarket.

I think just about everybody did. Certainly I remember one. Along with washboards.

We lived in a flat, no room for one that size. We had an Acme wringer for small stuff. Our big items like sheets, tablecloths and bath towels went to a laundry. In a brown paper parcel.  I remember the coloured stitches used as laundry marks.

My mum eventually got a little spin dryer .
It was like a little dalek and used to jump around the kitchen at times.

I recall my parents first washing machine. It had one drum with an agitator, It may have had a little mangle on top. Checking google images they were made. None jump out as that's it but hardly surprising as I doubt I took much interest in it.  The big mangle turned by hand that I recall was my grandmother's I think.

We had one that clamped between two sinks. I often helped my Nana by turning the handle, one of my sisters would take turn about with me.

Our mangle was bigger than us kids.. 
And we had a big tin bath hanging on the wall..
If I remember rightly we had a big copper in the bathroom.. 
Before an Ascot Heater was installed.. Instant hot water !! A luxury..
