I always do the eye first Scrumpy as I can't bear a blank eye it's spooky and the eyes are the windows of the soul. I believe animals have souls .
I will put him away now to dry ( and probably forever ) I have loads of never finished paintings.

Quote from: klondike on May 29, 2026, 10:56:42 AMIt's quite a skill. Not sure if it's possible to learn but my natural skills never progressed much beyond those of a 8 year old. Not a talented one either.

I do think that it is a gift to draw I have always drawn things from being a little girl.
Got me in deep do dah at school as all my exercise books were covered in doodles
But anyone can learn and like anything with practise get better
( except for me and maths)
But I find painting hard and it's getting harder as my eyesight gets worse .

I am pleased with the Doberman 🙂
It's easier when it's a smooth haired dog where you can see the planes of the face

Trying some flowers on this old canvas
If I do t like a painting I just paint over the top (underneath here  was a baby elephant .)
I don't do flowers  but there is a first time for everything .
