Is going to replace the Legacy Act .
This is going to mean trouble for military veterans who served in Northern Ireland .
The SAS a is especially incensed at the Bill which means that many British veterans now elderly can be  dragged through the courts.

Who would join the army if you can be pursued by your own government decades later for acts that happened in wartime ?

Our government's seem to hold terrorists in higher esteem than those who risked their lives to protect the public from them.

The terrorists were pretty much granted immunity from prosecution by the Good Friday agreement. Our soldiers should have been granted the same.

Ah  I see this may be related to Iraq rather that Northern Ireland. Still a long time ago to be muck raking.

I was thinking of NI too.
But it doubtless pertains to Iraq or any other conflict .

A different view of the military this is so good .

I don't think there are any Australians on here but a case that is dividing Australia at the moment is that of Ben Roberts Smith .

Ben Robert's Smith is arguably Australia's most decorated soldier .
He is former SAS fighter
Her holds the V.C . For outstanding courage under fire in Afganistan .
He charged two machines  guns single handed and thereby saved his the lives of his comrades .

He has now nearly two decades later been arrested and charged with the murder of five Afghanistan civilans .

There is no evidence as other than the testimony of other SAS amen who are also being charged with murder but have been granted immunity if they will testify against him .

It's a huge case in Australia and he has been basically charged by the media before he gets near a court house .

Once the new Troubles Bill gets passed similar cases will be held on British Veterans .

Total disgrace the way veterans are being treated whilst IRAkillers have been effectively granted immunity

I don't understand why this is even happening 🤷 war is a terrible thing and people from all sides lose their lives in it. IMO, if anyone should get the blame for it and carry the can, it's the one/s who started the war, not the soldiers who were ordered to go and fight in it.

Nick Timothy MP has referred Lord Hermer to the Bar Standards Board.

He went after British soldiers  ( in relation to Iraq despite warnings murder allegations were false.)

Hermer knew what he was doing: he sought "wriggle room if the killings did not happen."

He has been hand in glove with Starmer for years

 Starmer made him Attorney General.

And he was looking to charge £450 an hour!

The SAS is threatening to take the Government to court over the Northern Ireland Troubles Bill.

"This has never been done before. The SAS will NOT support or abide by this law. It will not work, and it must not pass."

Col Richard Williams

I don't generally take heed of the Daily Mail as I think it's a rag .
However this article by Boris Johnson ( another I don't take too much heed ) seems to highlight the injustice of persecuting veterans

This was in Iraq and pertains to operation Danny Boy

Why does Hermer want to do this ?
