I brought a flagpole back from the caravan where we flew all sorts of flags including the George Cross. Because of the winds none lasted all that long. I bunged it up in the back yard and it usually flies the George flag with the odd change to a Help For Heroes one near Armistice day and sometimes an Union Flag. I just moved it as it would have shaded my new solar gazebo which is almost complete.

Quote from: klondike on Yesterday at 11:37:47 PMOur flag was highjacked by groups such as the BNP. It hasn't recovered unfortunately.
The BNP must be a bit thick, then.  The St George's Cross represents Englsnd, not Britain.
Just because mindless yobs fly it, it should not be banned.  Of course, it would not be easy to criticise the BNP yobs as flying our national (English) flag can never be regarded as anything other than the support of England.

That's probably why they do it; it would be difficult to criticise it.  Perhaps, if they do any damage or even shout intimidating words, there might be a case for action against them to be taken.  Sadly, we don't seem to have proper police since Treason May sacked all of our best.

Happy St. George's Day, everyone.

JBR, both the Union Flag and St. George's Flag get hijacked every now and again
by people with not much but hate between their ears. But most of us know the difference
between love of our country and bigotry.

When I was a child in Scotland and it was the Coronation of QEII, there were lots of flags everywhere! Union flags, Saltires and the Royal Scottish Standard/Lion Rampant, thats what my dad hung from our window ledge.

Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I like the Union Jack
I know that's not the right way to call it but it's the way I was brought up calling it and it's seems right somehow .

I am feeling quite patriotic on this St George's day
I somehow think that patriotism is a fast fading thing.
We are a country that no longer loves itself .
