April 23rd is St. George's day.   There's been a kick off here as on Sunday, a group of ' patriots' put flags up on a bridge in the town of Ellesmere Port.  They've all disappeared and someone has posted a photo of council workers with a cherry picker removing the flags at night.   Why ?  everyone is asking and why pay council workmen overtime to remove the flags under cover of darkness ?

Is it a Labour council?  I think that would explain it, as they are not particularly pro-English people.
I'm not sure about the Limp Dems and the Greenies, either.
I believe that one excuse such people use is that the flag (and our Union Flag) might upset some muslim people.  Perhaps we should be hoisting Pakistan flags?

In Spain every man and his dog has a national flag and they display it proudly .

On their houses and businesses? That would work here too. Probably not on bridges of lampposts such as happened near here. 🇬🇧
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

They are everywhere especially on Spains  national day or any other festive day and there are many of them .

There are still plenty of them on lampposts in a few areas around here.

Why should we be ashamed of our flag ?

I think the flags look rather nice along the street.

That explains it.  They have their own flag, so won't want Union Flags on display.
