I never get involved in Politics as a rule,  but I saw something in todays Daily Mirror which was rather alarming.
It reckons Putin is planning to bomb four places in the UK to teach us a lesson for  helping Ukraine.
It said it will most likely be London,  Leicester, Reading,  and some American air base here.

Putins Submarines have been spotted lurking about in our seas too,  and they reckon he is seeking out where we have under water cables.

I have never understood why some men have so much twisted hatred inside them.   It's like a health problem they have,  and frightening.

I think Russia have more than enough problems in Ukraine than to be stupid enough to bomb a NATO member.

There are millions of Russisn bots posting BS on social media not to mention drunks like Medvedev who is on a par with Trump for posting militant garbage.

Putin's Subs are lurking in the waters beside us, according to the News . Lately I've often seen The Navys Destroyers when at Dunnet or Thurso beaches. They're over near Orkney too.

I agree.. Russia is too busy elsewhere then to start problems with the UK..

If they staring bombing US air bases in the UK they would have the US and Trump to deal with..
They couldn't afford that..
Russia has spent millions and lost millions in the Ukraine (war)..
Even it's people are fed up with it all..
As for snooping around our shores !!!.. they have always done this..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

This is why I don't usually read this sort of stuff in the newspapers,  'cos it worries me.

As Raven pointed out the Russians do spy out undersea cables and some in the Mediterranean have been damaged but I think the culprits there were commercial vessels dragging their anchors and it was the Chinese who got the blame.

Don't worry sweetheart.. It's been going on for yonks..
Put some crushed garlic outside..
That will keep intruders away.. 😃

Weak politicians ride on the backs of an external enemy. I don't believe our politicians would defend us against Russia, in any case they can apparently take out anyone they want without using bombs.

Why do you say that, Ashy?

I shouldn't think we've got much weaponry left anyway, we've been sending it all to Ukraine for the last few years.

The real problem is that the Tories and Labour, ever since Maggie was stabbed in the back, have been pretty much ignoring our national defence and we now have very little with which to defend ourselves.

On the plus side, looking at the state of our country now, filled to the seams with the third world, I can't imagine that Russia or anyone else for that matter might want to take our country.  I suppose that, at least, it is an effective form of deterrence!

They'd rather the Ukrainians fight them than lose and allow Putin to continue with his attempt to rebuild the USSR.

Trump has already said he'd like to withdraw from NATO. MAGA which he represents are isolationist and don't want to get involved in foreign wars.

What about Iran then?
Ah well it seems the Donald thought that would be a 3 day walkover. Same as his hero Putin did when he invaded Ukraine in 2022 but who is now in his 5th year of Special Military Operation (like Basil Fawlty it's a case of don't mention the war) and losing.

Do you think that one day, Putin and Trump will fight each other?
I have wondered this from time to time.
I think they are both similar personalities and temperaments,  so it would be the end of us all if they did.

klondike

It won't happen. Trump wants to do business with Putin and line his pockets not fight him and Putin can't even beat Ukraine so there is zero chance of him attacking America.

Russia and Ukraine..!!

It's always puzzled me why it was never a 'walk over' for Putin..
Russia has always been seen as a country not to meddle with..
Even as kids we (feared) her..

They didn't take Ukraine seriously is the basic answer. Ukraine had been preparing since the 2014 Little Green Men - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_green_men_(Russo-Ukrainian_war)

Corruption in Russia is rife. It starts with the kleptocracy right at the top and filters down everywhere including the military. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Putin%27s_Kleptocracy - a bit about a book on that.

Maintenance gets logged as being done but isn't and the money pocketed. Bullet proof vests turn out to be stuffed with cardboard, explosive armour on tanks is only egg cartons. All the equipment is shite and their troops get just a few days training. The only purpose of most soldiers is to exhaust Ukrainian ammo by advancing towards Ukranian positions and getting shelled or shot. Putin though Ukraine would run out of shells and bullets before he ran out of cannon fodder. Seems he was wrong. Currently more are being killed or seriously wounded than he can replace each day and the Russian economy is bankrupt.

Oh - when we were kids it was the USSR which was a whole different bunch and more powerful than current Russia. They went bust and collapsed economically. Remember the Berlin Wall? Russia inherited the ruins.
