The German Post Office is releasing stamps to mark what would have been Queen Elizabeth's 100th birthday on April 21st....  and what do we get ? The Lord of the Sodding Rings
Incidentally, to buy a stamp in Germany costs approx 87 pence, here as we all know it's £1.70 !

Thank you Deutsche Post, what a lovely choice of photo too.

Scrumpy

The stamp shows a lovely picture of our late queen..
However , I don't understand why a Birthday is mentioned when the person is no longer here..
I have heard of people talking about ' heavenly birthdays'
I don't get it...
The cost of our first class stamp is costly .. no wonder the post office is on the way out..
Well done Germany..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I don't even get much junk mail these days although the posties get the joy of stuffing leaflets in when they do deliver mail. Most of my mail comes from government departments  - DVLA, NHS, IR, DHSS and council plus P60s from pension providers.

What a very welcome idea from Germany, remembering our last queen.
I think it shows how she was regarded in Germany as well as here.
I had no idea that the Germans, or any other such country, was particularly taken by our last monarch.
She was indeed an excellent queen and, although others have made the occasional criticism now and then, she was infinitely better than Charlie-boy.
I hope that when William takes over, he can be as highly regarded as his grandmother.

We imported a royal family from Germany. George 1 and 2 were both German born.

It is such a lovely picture.  I wonder what prompted Germany to use it?  Our current lot would be too worried it might offend someone 🙄
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Indeed.  'Our current lot' are a real embarrassment to most of the British people, and in many ways appear to want to drag the country down.  They seem to welcome illegal immigrants and offer them more than some of our old war heroes; they seem to bend the law to avoid punishing certain people compared to what ordinary British people suffer; they even try to persuade the white Britons that this ongoing mass invasion is of the ultimate benefit to us and our country.
I sincerely hope that 2029 may reverse this downward plummet of our nation.
