Doing ‘posh’..

I watched a tv programme today.. Yorkshire's Poshest Hotel : Grantley Hall..
The lady that owned it was inspiring.. She said she was a council house kid and her father was miner.. admitting that she only made money after a divorce.. The renovations costs were over 100million.. The mind boggles..
The manager was more snobbish than the owner and her grownup son..
  The hotel was beautiful.. the gardens were grand.. the service top notch and the food looked delicious..

Even if I won millions I would never stay in a 'posh' hotel..
I would hate to be treated like I was better then others..
Simply because of my wealth.. Also I couldn't bear to part with such vast amounts of money in order to be waited on hand and foot.. and have my every whim taken care of..
I am just a council house kid.. Never ,ever done posh..
And never would want to..
 I have only stayed in regular hotels where the staff behave normal and mostly pleasant..
Have you stayed in a posh hotel.? 
Would you spend thousands to do so.?

My daughter's been there. Her husband booked it as a treat and she loved it, poshest hotel she's stayed in in the UK she said, but the staff were lovely.  My son-in- law grew up in a council house, and we certainly weren't well off.  I've been to a wedding in a posh hotel in St Andrews, my nephew's wife comes from a well to do family.  We stayed in a B&B!

I have never done 'Posh.' 
Different things bring joy to different people though.   Posh folks probably wouldn't like my way of life either.

Good health,   peace of mind, and a clear conscience mean more to me than going somewhere very posh and mixing with the elite. I doubt they would be my sort of people anyway, no more than I would be theirs. 
I mean,  what on earth would you talk about for a start?   I could hardly join in a conversation about the latest cruise I'd been on,  or having dinner with Richard Branson!

Anyway, I don't think I would want someone grovelling round me just because they were after a big tip,  I would rather someone help me because they were sincere or kind.

Last year I stayed for one night in an old Spanish finca .
It was wonderful .
Not expensive and great  food and amazing decor .

I agree with Mups.. I wouldn't have any idea what to talk about to those who think they are 'posh'.. 
People who inherit money are probably easier to chat to than those who make their money and think they are 'up there'...   I would rather chat to the cleaner..

I don't do posh, though when we moved to the Mainland during my early years a lot of the school kids used to think we were a posh family because we lived in the Castle's Dowger House and it was huge compared to other houses in the area.
But we were just an ordinary family doing the same as other families.

No .. I don't think so.. I wouldn't feel comfortable..
I would like to stay in a nice hotel with beautiful views across the city.. Views that lit up at night ..
I would like good food .. and pleasant staff..
Staff that I could talk one to one... 
But I wouldn't like to be 'Over Indulged'...

I got invited to a posh hotel for a Christmas do once by a company I had started working for. Very old place not modern at all. Flunkies when we arrived. The one thing I recall about the suite we had was the toilet. It sat in solitary splendour in the middle of a room I recall as, but surely couldn't have been, the size of our lounge. I don't do posh. It just makes me feel uncomfortable.
