The silence in the empty house really gets to me and just have to break it with music, usually Gregorian chant. Any other favourite cures?

I'm quite the opposite, I love the silence. Only occasional sound is a bird or animal, if the wind's in the right direction then I hear the ocean.

Have you given up on most of the games? you've not added to most for a while now.

Been a bit under the weather again but have indulged myself today. Usually I don't mind the silence, but every now and then, today being one such, I think it will drive me mad. Makes me want to scream for the sound of a human voice, hence something like Gregorian chant. Thankfully, all being well sister in law Mary is coming up on Sunday for Easter

Not a problem for me. The house next door that was sold is now being converted into two flats and the builders are in. Some silence would be rather nice.

I understand Michael..
Silence is fine when you know that someone will be there to chat to later..
But for many the absence of a human voice can go on and on..
Luckily I can pop to the Co.op.. sit outside where people pass by..  Phone a mate.. So I am lucky..
I do find that being on my own when not feeling too great is the loneliest time..
I am pleased that you have Mary coming to visit..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Michael,  like Scrumps,  I am lucky in that I can still get out on my own.  I've also got my dogs for company too.
I always have the radio on all day when I'm at home as well.

Depending on which station you choose,  there's the news,  or you can hear music, gardening programmes,  listen to debates or  panel games, or even listen to a nice story being read etc.
Have you got a radio, Michael?
Do you think that might help if you hear people talking on the radio?

Alex

I can think of better sounds to cheer you up than Gregorian chants Michael  sorry !!!  perhaps as Mups suggests a radio would be helpful.

Can't remember the time I listened to a radio. I read a lot, watch Netflix, I think I would find a radio a distraction. Find Gregorian Chant soothing, but thanks for the thoughts, folk

I have the radio on in the background..
I watched the Peaky Blinders film on Netflix a couple of days back.. Brummie accent was a struggle for me.. I loved the series.. Was the film worth it ?  Maybe not..

I thought it was a distraction you wanted Michael?  A distraction from the silence?
