There is so much doom and gloom,  arguments,  and bad news of late,  I have to 'switch off'.

Then last Friday something really simple, but so lovely happened to me,  it made me think about starting a cheerful thread as a change from bloody Trump, Andrew, and stabbings!

On Friday I had gone to post a letter,  and just a few feet away from the post box there is a small charity shop.
I didn't intend to go in,  but I love teddy bears,  and one about 2ft high was sitting in the front window smiling at me.

I wanted him,  but  sense prevailed and I turned to go home.
As I was walking away,  a voice behind me said 'Hello'  and I turned round to see it was a lady from my exercise class,  I don't know her name.  She was carrying loads of stuff to donate to the shop.
I said how much I liked the Ted, and she said to go and get it if you like it.

Well that's all it took to make me  weaken,  so I went back to ask how much it was, as there was no price ticket on him.
The chap behind the counter had no idea what to charge,  and in the end asked me if £2 would do.
I said yes please!
Then to my horror,  I realised I had no money on me!!   I had only gone out to post a letter after all.

As I was going to put Ted back in the window,  the lady I had seen outside had put the £2 on the counter for me.
Silly or not,  but just one little kindness out of the blue like that, really made me fill up. I hardly know her even.  Bless her heart.  What a lovely kind gesture wasn't it.
It doesn't always take much to make someone happy does it.

This pic isn't actually him,  but is almost identical.

Have you had any nice, unexpected little surprises happen to you of late?

Lovely random act of kindness. 💜

I went away at the weekend to see my older granddaughter who is in her first year at uni. I was with my daughter, and my younger granddaughter.  We don't get together regularly, so it was a really nice break.   💕

Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

The Evri man who delivers my parcels and puts them in my porch..

He said..  'You brighten up my day.. with your lovely smile..'

He now calls me by my name.. And we are best of friends.. If he passes me in the street he stops his van .. to get out and give me a hug..
 Friend for life..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Naw not really, but I'm looking forward to going down to Perth. Not been for a while.

Great story with the Teddy. I always think it sad that teddies end up in charity shops or even worse the bin. My parents kept mine. They were well loved - ie pretty bald and worthless to anybody but them and me. I think they are probably amongst the stuff in the loft even now.

I like teddies too I've got the teddy given to my son when he was just 2 and it was bigger than him.  We called him ' Big Ted' and he sits upstairs in the spare bedroom.

I must have been spoiled. I had Big Ted and Little Ted. Going by the state of it I think Little Ted must have slept with me but I don't actually remember that.

I do recall that I killed him though. Little Ted used to talk to me. I made some sort of  glider or maybe parachute for him. One major component was the inside of a loo roll. There were some sheets of paper too. The details don't survive. Anyway the magnificent Ted was kitted up in his flying machine and launched down the stairwell. It didn't go well. There was a crash. Although Ted was not noticeably damaged he never talked again. Maybe he had the hump.

You killed him! How could you?!

Reminds me of my brother who had an imaginary friend called Joe.
One day in the car on our way to my grandparents he suddenly stated  "I'm sorry to say Joe's  died"
We reckoned he'd chucked him out of the car!!  🤣🤣

Aaw, you old softie.
If anything happens to me, I know who to leave my teddys to now.

My biggest one I rescued a few years ago.  He was sitting under a tree over the local tip.  I assumed he had been dumped and one of the workers took him out of the skip again.  He was in perfect condition too,  a lovely Ted..

I couldn't leave him there like that,  so I managed to acquire him for a fiver,  and he has sat in my front room ever since.
He's a big lad,  about waist high to me  (but I am only small),  and he's always smiling.
