Dangerous stuff

I bought a tiny radio. In that tiny radio is a tiny lithium battery. There was a note that delivery would cost more and may take longer because of that dastardly battery.

Got me wondering - will we still be paying more for stuff with batteries when all the delivery lorries have been forced to be EVs?

I saw a YouTube video about 10 vehicles that have become uninsurable in the UK.
All electric of course. From the tiny Nissan Leaf to very expensive cars such as Range Rover Evoke (too easy to steal) through a big Merc (too costly to repair) Top or should that be bottom was the Jaguar iPace (too costly to repair). Oh what joys there are to come post the eventual stopping of all but EVs entering the market. I read that they are scuppering the hopes of good old repairable diesels with £760 road fund licences coming to many.

I'm wondering if it really is a conspiracy theory to suggest that the powers that be want to restrict mobility for the plebs,

With regard to 'battery cars'(!), they are talked about a lot, but there's no way I would ever buy one.  In fact, I predict that having heard a lot about them recently, I'm sure that numbers on the road will eventually reduce for the reasons explained above.
Perhaps, one day if the availability of fossil fuels reduces, electric cars might become the only option.  If so, I believe that nuclear power stations will become more in number, simply of necessity.

Under current law they are are you will be able to buy new post 2030  - less than 5 short years to go...

2024: 22% of new car sales must be zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs), with BEVs forming the vast majority.
2025: Target increases to 28%.
2026: Target rises to 33%.
2027: Target reaches 38%.
2028: Target climbs to 52%.
2029: Target is 66%.
2030: Target reaches 80%.

Fortunately, this target may well change in 2029, unless Labour somehow manages to remain in government.
