Too many options for not working by upping incomes via disability benefits. My neighbour, severely disabled, with a degenerative condition, goes to work. His wife also works, and their teenage son has a part time job, he's still at school.  Good role models for him.

At the other end of the spectrum, I know a much younger family, the father is classed as a 'carer'. The mother has unspecified health conditions, and their children, none of whom go to school, are all on the autistic spectrum or have learning difficulties.  They are supposedly home schooled, but mum tends to spend much of her time in bed, although occasionally her health improves enough to go out with friends.  Those kids have no role model, and will probably end up living off benefits. I know the grandmother, she despairs!

Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖
