Scrumpy

Trees (conifers ) being cut down in neighbour's garden yesterday..
Three guys with all the gear .. chain saws etc;..

I spoke to one of them to ask if they could take down two Silver Birch that had grown so tall ..
He said he would speak to Peter their boss.. Peter came round to my house immediately..
Lovely old guy.. He looked at them and said he would do it and agreed that they were very tall..
I asked him how much.. I waited with bated  breath... He looked at me.. and smiled..
 'For you... 30 pounds'..
I was so happy.. 100/200 was quoted last year..
They will shoot up again .. But I will not let them get too high...
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Wow!  That was almost too good to be true, Scrumps.
I suppose that does include putting them through his chipper and taking it all away, does it?
That is exceptional.

You must have a fetching smile Scrumpy. You weren't  winking too were you

I think it costs them to dispose of the wood but probably by trip so maybe your neighbour is subsidising yours.

I reckon it was the lippy wot done it..

I have learned that a Silver Birch.. Aspen.. are not good trees to grow in a regular garden..
They keep growing and growing... and are fast at it ..
They should be at least 50ft away from property.. Their roots can cause much damage..
I won't bother with another.. The guy took them down just above ground level.. He told me to grow something smaller and easier..

He had already priced my neighbour's job to over a thousand..
He just drove his shredder from my neighbours house to mine ... Left the garden tidy.. Brilliant..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..
