I think the BBC are beginning to see their end!
Their lies, especially re. Trump; their greed in demanding payment to watch ALL live TV; their general attitude and bias if you watch programmes like Question Time.
It seems that more and more people are seeing no reason to pay for a TV licence and, for that reason, I believe that their present system of financial support is destined to end.
I can foresee that once this Labour government is gone, they will be obliged to compete on a level playing field.

They are likely to have this Labour government oversee their next charter renewal and they are as likely as not to continue funding them through the taxpayer but maybe not through the current licence as so many are no longer paying.

The good news is only another two new years to the next election. How are they going to rig it?

If you mean rig the election - well they could try cancelling it. Too late for changing to PR or boundary changes. I don't think they can unless they allow the dinghy boys and other factions they think would vote for them to vote too. More likey they'd lose votes to Islamists it they did.

If you meant BBC funding...
They could well go for full term knowing that they will be out on their arses for sure. Major kept hanging on waiting for good news that never came. The Charter renews in 2027 which means that they'd need notification that taxpayer funding was ceasing right now and probably that is too late.

They are haemorrhaging cash as people decide if they wanted left wing propaganda they'd buy Morning Star or Socialist Worker. Allowing them to hike the licence fee to cover the shortfall would doubtless make Labour even more unpopular. Letting them fail means losing their brainwashing so what to do?
Well I don't know but they have been gaslighting options like an internet surcharge or added to the rates but they won't be popular either. TBH I'd rather leave things as they are - I don't want BBC BS and don't care about the rest which I could see either as download without the tedious adverts or on catchup probably with even more.

It's a worry for the BBC
It's  a worry for Labour
I don't give a rat's fart unless they come up with a scheme that means I'll be funding them in any way. They should either embrace adverts, go subscription or crash and burn and I really don't care which of those.

etc.
I agree completely.
Certainly, Labour needs the BBC as their left-wing mouthpiece, but what they can't do is to compel people to watch it even if they fund it through general taxation.  Most people don't like being dictated to, certainly I don't, and such a move will drive even more people to ditch the Labour party, but of course they are not the sharpest tools in the box so they probably haven't even thought about that.
