I have found that if you rub two Boy Scouts together they get very hot.

Interesting Mike.  Made me think how miserable life must have been without heat.  🥶
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Maybe they looked at it differently though.   They say you can't miss what you've never had.
Come to think of it,  I wonder what made them think of putting meat into a flame in the first place?

I wonder what a prehistoric man's average life span was?   I wonder if they were healthier than us -  and without all the drugs and illnesses around  nowadays?
They probably had a lot more excise every day than most of us do,  plus fresh food,   no money worries or bills to pay,
no expensive holidays abroad  etc.

One day, if the world still exists and mad scientists or world leaders haven't killed all life,   I wonder if someone will ever find any remains of our life today,  and be astonished at how we lived?

The history of man-made fire is interesting, but I believe that man has observed fire before that.
Fires can, and do, start naturally.  A lightning bolt striking a tree, for example.  I'm sure that man has seen this and realised that having been presented with fire, he probably realised the possiblity of him thinking: "I'll have a bit of that!" and then capturing some of the fire, perhaps with a piece of wood, a branch perhaps, and then taking it and using it to light a fire of his own.
Yes striking a flint is the ideal of making your own fire anywhere, but I'm sure they were already familiar with fire.

I don't think their life span was very long maybe mid twenties that's why all the remains have good teeth they didn't have time to get cavities ! Just long enough to raise a child to independant living .
Then again they had no refined sugar either.
They must have had worries though there was always the chance of being eaten by a sabre toothed tiger trampled by a woolly mammoth while hunting letting the fire go out etc no antibiotics so a scratch could become fatal !
