Is it squirting out fast? If it does it needs adjusting. If it's dribbling out then put you finger up the exhau.. no no sorry that's for old men. If it's just dribbling out it's more likely a blocked filter  or jets or a leak than the pump but it could be the pump.

I wouldn't say it squirts out fast exactly,  I have to push the button several times,  and quite hard too.
If it is a blocked filter,  is that a garage job?   Is it expensive?

Unless you have a 1920s car how hard you press isn't going to change how fast it comes out.

I don't even know for sure if your wiper pipes have a filter to be honest or where it might be if it has. A job for Google. Then if it has look to see if you can see it where it is supposed to be and if you can reach it ok. The chances are it would be push fit and maybe little spring clips. Might only need washing through with the tap.

You do know how to adjust the aim though and poking something into the nozzle to do that would make sure there was no blockage there so that would be a good start and shouldn't take long.

I doubt it was cold enough for icing up to blame but you should probably check the screen wash now anyway.

A final point I do have to mention especially when you say you have to press several times - I suppose you have checked there is fluid in the washer bottle

While a Fiat Panda doesn't typically have a specific external filter for the squirter nozzle itself, debris can clog them; solutions involve cleaning the nozzles with a pin, back-flushing the system, using washer tablets to dissolve gunk, or checking the pump/hoses, as blockages usually come from within the reservoir or lines rather than a dedicated filter.


I could ask at Halfords about the tablets, do you think?

P.S.  The back window washer works fine,  but maybe because the squirter comes from the top of the window and runs down,  whereas the front one  is the opposite?

If I recall correctly, it worked fine until matey boy had that prang with your car.  Perhaps it juddered something which has only come to light now, and which your repair garage might be able to fix and add onto the claim retrospectively 😊

No,  I think the first time this started happening was quite a while before the prang, Dex.
Anyway,  the repairs were completed back in late September  (I think),  but thanks for the reply.

Just give it a poke and see. Putting anything in the reservoir now won't fix an existing blockage if there is one.  I've never heard of a weak pump. They either run or they burn out completely.

I don't know what a garage would do or charge. I'd poke the nozzles inspect the pipe to check for leaks or kinks and if it still wasn't working put my hand over the washer bottle and squirt an air line through my fingers into it to see if anything blew through - not hard though because if the pipes come off they might be hard to get at to push back on. When I'd buggered it completely I'd take it to the garage.

All problems are fixable with the right tool which by then would be a little oblong of plastic with numbers and a name on it and a little microchip.

OK.  If its not raining again, I will give it another poke tomorrow.

Good thinking Scrumps.  I've got to go into town on Wednesday,  so I think I will pop in and ask Halfords then,  rather than me poking about and maybe make it worse because I don't know what I'm doing..
