Use the tumble dryer...
Martin Lewis ..The money expert has warned that it is the appliance that costs the most to run.
I do not have a tumble dryer...
I do have an airing cupboard.. and a fairly long landing which have (banisters) that I hang my washing over.
It is easier for me.. being on my own..
Families must find it difficult during the wet months .
A tumble dryer must be a godsend..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I have one and I use it. Electricity is expensive yes but pegging everything out takes time and effort. Even at minimum wage that time would pay a lot more than your electricity costs. In winter drying indoors takes just as much of your time and makes the air  inside damp too.

I've got one too and I hate using it, but it's necessary when there's flannelette sheets to dry

I used to have one years ago,  and I once remember  taking a look at the electric meter whizzing round while the drier was running.    The meter nearly took off!   The dryer didn't 'alf eat up the electric.

But some folks have no alternative

A dehumidifier is cheaper to run.

Don't think they will dry clothes from the wash in any sensible time scale

Depends on circumstances.  We drape things over the radiators and have a plug-in clothes horse-airer ( which we don't always turn on).  Things dry within a few hours or overnight, and we all benefit from the heat from the rads, rather than just the washing benefitting in a tumble drier.

We don't use a dehumidifier either, but would do if there was any sign of dampness/condensation.

We have a washer/drier.  I use the drier for some things, but not all. An airer, by a radiator is fine for others, as long as there's ventilation.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖
