It costs £2.50 for a slice of pie in Antigua, in Trinidad it's £2.75, in Dominica it's £2.60
These are the pie rates of the Caribbean  :yay:

Although I agree with that,   that is only the end product.   I would take it further back also.

I also blame the breeders for not caring who their puppies go to in the first place.
Ruthless, money-grabbing breeders ask no questions,  do no home checks, give no paperwork (or faked), no puppy health checks done, and probably  no  vaccinations or microchips etc.
They are usually breeding from a bitch every season without letting her rest,  and if these thugs buy from someone like that,  then it is always the dogs who will suffer.   Then the dogs get destroyed,  instead of the breeders and buyers.

Were you dishonourably discharged from the army?

I was kicked out when I was a boy soldier age 15, services no longer required, writing a complaining letter ( published) to the Sunday Pictorial was a bit of a no no....but I did re enlist when I was 17.

Were your jokes considered to be lethal weapons and thus to be considered as valuable assets?

Am trying to recall if it was a Monty Python sketch about the "killer" joke which needed to be quarantined for public safety.  Can you recall it? Not the joke, obviously, but the sketch?

I am sure there are reputable breeders but when we were looking for a puppy not one asked for anything other than a deposit .
Meanwhile the dogs homes were like the SS  we could have adopted a child easier . They wanted not a good home but utopian no wonder they are so full .
I know several people who just wanted to rehome a dog who were refused so went out and bought one ..

I like to think I would have sniffed a dodgy prospective buyer out pretty quick, Muddy.
I remember one chap who I didn't take to at all, and then he said he wanted one of my GSD pups as a guard dog,  so I told him to look elsewhere.    I was not going to allow one of mine to be stuck on a chain somewhere for the rest of his life.

I would never let a pup go where the people were out at work full time either, or with very young children.

Mine used to leave home with Pedigrees, KC reg's,  Diet sheets, some food they were used to, and a toy that smelled of 'home' to cuddle up to.
Owners also had to sign a paper to agree to bring it back to me if they could not keep it, rather than just sell it on, plus my phone number so they could ring me if they were worried about anything.
The pup's parents also had all the necessary hereditary health checks (blood tests, hips x-rayed etc),  before I even bred them.
That was the Shepherds,  but the Beddies were tested for Copper Toxicosis  and have a 'Clear'  certificate before breeding.

I had some people kept in touch with photos etc  for years,  it was lovely to see them loved and growing up into strong, happy dogs..

I agree with you about some of the rescues being ridiculous about rehoming, and yes,  that is probably why some places are bursting at the seams.

Sorry to go on so, and bore the pants of others,  but my dogs have always meant the world to me,  and it mattered a great deal who I trusted to look after them.

I'll shut up now . . . .

I think my tastes have changed since the days I loved Monty Python.

For me now although still amusing and intentionally ridiculous it went on a tad too long. Reduced attention span I fear. Sign of the times.

Dextrous63

They were too much.  Every so often they did manage to do something that was funny though.

I remember that.  A shame that we shall never see Monty Python again, as the members are all either dead or past it.  😣😣😣
