Quote from: GrannyMac on September 20, 2025, 01:01:32 PMYou can check online to see if they're taxed and MOT'd.  Parking is short where we live, its popular for tram users, park users, and when Wednesday are at home we don't move the car!  I reported one that sat for a couple of without moving.  It wasn't taxed, got a penalty notice, eventually it was removed.  I think it had been nicked and dumped.
Yes,  I did have a look online a little while back, Granny,  mainly to check whether he was telling me the truth.
I found it was true about the SORN,  but I don't think for one minute it was true that he had arranged the scrap yard to come,  else it would have gone before now, wouldn't it.
I bet he wishes he had sorted it now.

Back when I were't lad if you drove it in the local scrappy gave you a tenner or they'd pick up for free.

Parking is getting horrendous everywhere  and people don't help by parking accross  the road from drop down drives making it very awkward to get out .

Cars are getting bigger. Drives on older estate houses probably aren't big enough.

On a loosely related theme, I think, have I ever told you about the neighbour of a divorced, ex monk who turned gay who went on to become a science teacher, who lived opposite some bloke who used to wash his car everyday and polish it weekly, but who rarely drove it and mostly kept it stored in his garage?

His house became so full of car cleaning stuff that his wife left him.

Why is it young female drivers do not understand the right of way rule ? :boo:

Funny that,  I always find its the male drivers who are more arrogant and take risks.  And strangely,  hardly any of them have indicators that work, too.

I love to watch the driver in a shopping car park showing off in their motor by trying to park in a space that all others have avoided.. and they have to give up because the space is usually too tight.. They put their foot down and try to leave the scene as quickly as they can..
I forgot to add.. Usually a middle aged bloke..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Look at the car first. BMW drivers are known for no indicators. I put up a joke based on that a while back.

Yes I agree about a lot of BMW drivers.    :upvote:
I also find a lot of Audi drivers have similar problems with their indicators too!

Not to mention Volvos.

Or Range Rovers - mind your their bulbs might be blown with all the hazard indicator use double parking in the middle of the road along with all their breakdowns they do get a hammering.

My daughter and her daughter both have heavy right feet.

I agree.  Those two seem to be the worst.  Not only do they not see any need to bother with indicators, they always join the outside lane in the motorways even if there are no other cars about.  It's a mental aberration that they all possess and which confirms in their minds that they are way above all other motorists simply because they have paid (over the odds) for a BMW.  I'm sure that bored policepersons look out for them to brighten up their day and add to their status in the force.

I also think those huge cars built like tanks,  are capable of breeding.    They breed overnight somehow,  so there are even more on the roads the next day.

Us lesser mortals with small cars are not easily spotted in their wing mirrors because their mirrors are 6ft higher than ordinary cars.

It reminds me of years ago when the little bubble cars were on the roads, and not easily seen.   Ordinary size cars  are not easily seen by these tank drivers either.
I think they should also complain to the manufacturers about their indicators not working.

You silly billies.  Not using indicators saves energy.  These selfless drivers are simply being green.

I am in a mess.  I am also unbelievably  pee'd off.

They took my car for mending earlier,  and about an hour ago they brought the hire one.
I can't use it.

It is nearly twice the size of my little Panda for a start.  It's full of gadgets I don't need, and haven't got a clue about anyway.
There's a big screen with pictures and silly diagrams on, and I don't know what that's for either.
I daren't even back it out of my driveway,  so now I am stuck here all week, unable to get out for even a bottle of milk!

I've got to take Gertie into the Vets on Friday at 9 o/clock for some blood tests,  and not only can I not get there,  there is a notice in the car saying . . . 'NO PETS.'

Really,  really got the 'ump now.

P.S.  I have just noticed the old wreck's gone from over the road.  Never saw it go though.
