My porch has a stable door.. 
I open the top.. lock the bottom..
I then open my front door to allow a draught to pass through..
But at my front door I put in place a type of security gate.. I made it myself.. 
out of cardboard..  
If anyone wants to enter the house they have to climb up over the stable door in order to get to the front door.. (keep up Mups).. But because there is a cardboard barrier people think that I have a dog..
How's that for clever thinking ?

Excellent. Far too clever for me. Sadly no stables so no stable doors - I don't keep horses - I'm not posh. No dog either. Or even a cat. There are some spiders - I sometimes find their webs. I fear I may be doomed.

As a grand finale Scrumps,  you could always get one of those  "Dogs Loose"  signs from Amazon.   


Just as a matter of interest, and daft as it may sound,    anyone using a "Beware of the Dog"  sign nowadays is open to prosecution!
If a dog really did nip someone,  they say because of the notice wording,  you are admitting that the dog bites,  so would be in trouble!
