Did you know that on  7th September we are all going to get one of those Emergency Alarm calls on our Mobiles?

See  this:

Apparently they can still do it even if our phone's are on silent.  I didn't know that.
I reckon this is incase of WW3 starting.   :worried:

If WW3 starts i think we might need more than an alarm call.

As  can never find mine I have to use the find my phone app all the time .

klondike

That's the trouble with this weather. No pockets.

Alex

I think you can turn this off in ' settings', but not sure.

klondike

Yes you can on Android at least.

On my phone it is in settings/notifications/advanced settings/wireless emergency alerts.

There are two types in mine Extreme and Severe with Extreme forcing Severe on. They are on by default.

I don't think we'll hear it.  We'll be in South Africa on that day.  Unless their transmitters can transmit that far!

I've turned mine off too, Alex.
If I am driving for example,  that loud siren would make me jump,  so I don't want it suddenly going off.

Klondike is quite right how he explains it,  but I had already done it by following the instructions in the Government's opening link, as its all written there too.

klondike

I left mine on.  I like to live dangerously.

Are you secretly auditioning for the new James Bond?

klondike

No I just bought a new six pack of underpants though so have little fear I can cope.
