No problem.. We will refer to STARMER as a PLONKA..

True.  I refer to him as TwoTier, which I can easily claim is someone else, or even an imaginative being in my own mind.  Just as well as it appears that the police these days are more concerned with 'incorrect' thoughts than stopping crime.
As Labour are becoming more and more blatant in their control of the country (while they still can), they are more and more likely to send their SS, er sorry, the police to arrest anyone who even speaks out about them and their control.  A prime example is that poor woman who posted a tweet and was punished by being sent to jail for a couple of years.
The police and the courts being controlled directly by the Labour government (or so it seems) is very similar to the situation apparently prevalent in Russia.  I am worried that that is probably what is coming here soon.

They are now proposing to restrict jury trials the "more serious" offences. Not sure what the actual definition will be but bet your life if Starmer wants you banged up you'll be tried by a tame judge and no jury.

If I was ever picked up by the fuzz (unpleasant, I believe) and accused of breaking the law, and then tried by a judge alone, I'd seriously object and my wife would undoubtedly publicise it.
This is the sort of thing you'd expect to see in Russia or North Korea.  The press would have a field day.
Of course, I wouldn't expect the King to lose any sleep over it.

Don't tweet! 😱
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I'm keeping a careful eye for any new member that may turn up with a gov.uk or police.uk email....

My sig could be worth 6 months. Come to think of it if they made it November to April it might be ok.

In all seriousness, I am hoping that the protections you have put in place on this forum will protect us all.

There are sections that require an account that has been manually authorised by me to see but sections like General and Chat ard entirely public. Not that any pensioners seem to find them and join us unfortunately.

Any search for a pensioners forum will simply find the other place as it has been there almost a couple of decades before us. Then come umpteen council forums because they are council's.

We used to be top here but I'm uncertain if we still are

The problem is nobody searches for that phrase

Thank you for that.
Personally, I'd be happy not to see the 'wrong' sort of people here.  The ones here now all seem to be very pleasant and helpful people.  Large numbers of members are not necessarily what we need, having seen other places which have turned me off!

How does anyone get on here other than by word of mouth ?

Perhaps by Googling 'Pensioners' Forum'?
I did just that, and all that came up were addresses to "t'other place"!
That's encouraging.
It would be safer if only members' contacts with other friends could lead to this place.

Well, I have just done that, and this forum didn't appear in the Google search.  I can't explain why other than, perhaps, this site has made changes to protect itself?  That, of course, would be a good thing: keep the baddies out!
