Killing animals for fun

I'm afraid I can feel a rant coming on, but I can't stop it.

Its about an article in the Sunday papers regarding the sicko's who pay many thousands of pounds to go on these 'Trophy Hunting'  trips,  then have their photos taken standing on the dead body.

Anyone remember 10 years ago,  'Cecil'  the beautiful Lion who was killed by some depraved man, just for something to brag about?
This man paid £35,000 for the 'glory'  of shooting this animal with a Crossbow.
The lion didn't die straight away so was followed for another 40 hours before being shot with a rifle,  then beheaded, and skinned.

Sadly, this revolting crime  (because that is what it should be classed as - a crime),  is still going on today,  because of the usual reason -  Money!!

Quote:

* A profilic British trophy hunter has boasted about his blood thirsty exploits helping clients to shoot Elephants,  Hippo's and Lions.   One safari firm alone, boasts of killing at least 37 Leopards, 16 Hippos, 14 Lions, and 3 Elephants,  along with countless antelopes, Hyenas and various other species."

They even killed one innocent Elephant just to use as bait to then kill a Lion.

What is the matter with people who enjoy this sort of life?  They've surely got to have some sort of emotional defect,  or killing instinct,  and unfortunately they have too much money to waste on their pleasures too.

And man thinks he is so superior to animals,  but at least most wild animals only kill to survive or feed their young,  not just to nail our heads on a wall and laugh.

I can't tell you how much I despise these despicable,  sick people.

I remember when Cecil was killed, A long time ago I was in the park with my 2 Old English Sheepdogs it was starting to get dark and I heard this awful racket coming from the pond, I started running as I knew it was nothing good. It was a couple of boys about 12 years old had somehow gotten hold of a swan and were hurting it, I dived straight in and went for the one doing the hurting, yanked him off and shoved him in the pond all the while the dogs stayed between me and the other lad, Bentley was growling like hell, a man came up and gave the brats a hell of a lecture, seems he knew them and I suspect he told their folks.
Would I do it now, I'm not as able as I was but my hiking cane would get a good few swipes in.

This disgusts me.
It seems to be badly brought-up kids, and adults who were also badly brought-up as kids.

What a country we live in.  Somehow, I can't imagine the people of some other countries, India for example, who would behave like that.

As you will have gathered,  it disgusts me too, JB.

It is beyond my comprehension.

Yes, well done, Raven.  Of course, these days you have no idea whether they are carrying knives.

I remember Cecil too what a beautiful animal, he was killed by some dentist from the US who is still at it !  He paid thousands of $ to kill endangered sheep in Mongolia ffs.   What is wrong with people ?

Raven

They need to be set out in a jungle as the prey, while those who care about wildlife hunt them. See how they like it.

I cannot understand the mentality of someone who wishes to murder a living sentient being .
People kill for money here too .
Shooting be it peasants or deer is a very expensive sport costing thousands per day  .
Deer I can understand if it is done humanely for culling purposes and the meat can be eaten .
Peasants which are dozy birds are hand reared to be killed as living targets .
However these gross Americans trophy hunters are the ultimate scum .
But these canned safaris are a very lucrative business .
