From what I've read most of the illegals are Spanish speaking Christians, unlike ours.

Correct .
Although looking at the Islamic hordes praying in the streets of NYC ( why don't they go to one og the umpteen mosques ) I am beginning to wonder

Absolutely.  Spanish Christians I would trust.  I would even trust some civilised muslims.  However, muslims from third-world countries entering our country illegally I could never trust.

I think it's the high numbers of illegals that bother some Americans.

The high number of legals here bother me regardless of where they may come from.

It's more the question of being taken for a ride by completely undocumented spongers from alien cultures that bother me with the illegals.

Oh yes, I completely agree.
Immigrants who come here legally and, if given a specified term to remain (such as those joining university courses) agree to leave at the specified time, are perfectly acceptable in my view.

The ones I am thinking about are those who now come daily across the Channel, either by boat or on lorries, illegally.  They should not have been allowed to enter the country but, even more worryingly, they are given everything they could hope for: money, housing, healthcare, legal aid, etc, etc., by our generous Labour government.
These are the real danger to the country, thanks to the disgusting TwoTier and his party.

There are many who overstay and it seems that we have no reliable system in place to ensure that doesn't happen.

what is the estimate of UK visitors on visa who overstay

While no precise current number exists, here's the best picture based on recent data and expert estimates:

🎯 Home Office Recorded Overstayers (via exit checks)
In the four years up to March 2020, an average of ≈ 63,000 non‑EU visa holders failed to record a timely departure annually—including ~54,000 visitor visa overstays—based on Home Office figures at the time

By 2019–20, non‑EU visa expiries with no matched exit rose to about 91,900, a rise from around 49,400 in 2016–17

📉 Wider "Unauthorised" Migrant Population
There hasn't been an official update since 2005's estimate of 310,000–570,000 irregular migrants

.

However, unofficial studies point to a much larger scale:

The Greater London Authority (2020) estimated ≈ 674,000 undocumented individuals in the UK

Other estimates range from 600,000 to 1.2 million .

David Wood (ex‑director at Immigration Enforcement) suggested 150,000–250,000 migrants annually remain illegally through overstaying

🧭 Putting It Together
Direct exit‑check data show at least ~90,000 visa-holders overstaying per year up to 2020.

Unofficial estimates suggest hundreds of thousands remain in the UK without authorisation—likely a mix of visa overstayers, failed asylum seekers, and people with expired permissions.

The central uncertainty lies in exit and data‑matching system gaps: non‑visa nationals (e.g., US/EU visitors) aren't captured in visa exit audits and may add 250,000+ untracked individuals annually

⚠️ Why the Numbers Are So Uncertain
Exit checks and departure recording were paused in 2020, and the Home Office hasn't resumed publishing reliable figures .

No systematic data on non‑visa national overstays (e.g. visitors from visa-exempt countries) are currently collected .

Multiple watchdogs have criticized the Home Office for its inability to track and enforce overstayers effectively

✅ Quick Summary Table
Category Estimate Notes
Home Office recorded overstayers (visas) ~90 k/year Only visa‑national, exit‑matching data (up to 2020)
Wider unauthorised population 600 k–1.2 m Includes asylum, non‑visa national, undocumented growth
Annual overstayers via overstaying ~150 k–250 k Based on internal estimates from immigration officials

🔍 Bottom Line
Minimum: ~ 90,000 visa‑holder overstays recorded annually (pre‑2020).

Likely reality: Several hundred thousand individuals stay beyond permission each year, with a total unauthorised population in the hundreds of thousands, potentially over a million.

Official data is sparse, with no fresh post‑2020 figures, partly due to Covid and system redesigns.

Independent bodies strongly urge enhanced exit checks and better Home Office monitoring to tackle this.

The bottom line is that for me the bigger problem is the number of legals who vastly outnumber the dinghy boys.

Considering how dangerous they keep telling us the trip is surprisingly few even seem to get very wet let alone  drown. While we continue to operate a cross channel ferry this will continue.

JBR

Indeed.  I feel that we have two separate problems, as mentioned:
- illegal immigrants already here;
- legal migrants who have failed to return after their agreed term in the country.

Rooting them out could be achieved by:
- obligatory possession of ID cards/documents;
- random checking of such ID by police;
- immediate removal from the country by anyone who cannot prove their legal residence in the UK, if necessary to an offshore island remote from the UK (we still have some!).

Followed up, of course, by no more handouts of any description to anyone here illegally.

The Irish have just about got it right..
After immigrants are taking over housing  and two 14 year old charged with serious sexual assault against a teenage girl .. The people of Balymena protested... and forced immigrants to be moved out of some properties..

We dare not protest or say anything against immigrants ...
The Irish marched together against problems with Immigrants..
They cared not about rules....  I admire them..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..
