A Mother's fate on holiday

There was a shocking article in the newspaper a couple of days ago, about a family who went to Turkey for their holiday - hubby, wife, and their two children aged 5 and 8.

Unfortunately the wife became very ill while away, and was taken to a hospital. Her husband followed in a Taxi but was not allowed to see her.
She  was then moved to another hospital, and ended up in intensive care,  but sadly, died.
Her husband found out she had been treated with Penicillin for hours,  in spite of him making it clear she was allergic to that drug.
Her family were then forced to carry her body through the hospital in a body bag!

Next thing, her husband had a visit at his hotel from the Police,  who interrogated him over claims he had poisoned his wife.

When it was all over and the family got the woman's body returned to UK for Post-Mortem examination,  it was discovered that her heart had been removed.

It was said that the Foreign Office is supporting the family but also advised that organs can be taken by coroners  without any consent in Turkey.     It has also been said there is a thriving illegal trade in organs for transplants there.

How frightening ey.   I don't think I will be visiting there any time soon . .

My God!  That is terrible.  We have been to Turkey some years ago, but we were both quite young then.
As far as I'm concerned, at our advancing years, a place to be avoided.  😨

Many years ago,  I heard through a friend of mine,  that another friend of hers had a son who this happened to somewhere down in London, too.

Apparently the lad was drinking with a couple of blokes he met at the bar, and they invited him back to their place for more booze, so he went with them.

He woke up next day, sitting in an empty bath tub,  roughly stitched up with a note telling him not to move or he might bleed to death!   It was discovered one kidney had been removed.

I never did hear how it ended though.

Horrible story! I've never been to Turkey, unlikely to ever go there.  Poor woman, poor family.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Was reading that yesterday, awful just awful. Some people should never be allowed to become medical workers. You have to be able to fully trust them and this happens. That poor family, I suppose they think it's ok to do this, because to them the family are foreigners.  :boo:

Scrumpy

How shocking... Scary, to think it even goes on in this country too..
Perhaps we should do the same to some of our visitors.. A heart here , a kidney there and a drop of blood for good measure..

I am glad that my foreign travel days are over..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

That is distinctly frightening.
Thankfully I, and I suspect most sensible people, would not go along with people I don't know.  Of course, young people often don't think about the possible consequences.
I imagine that nothing was done about that crime and I hope that the lad survived, somehow managing to either get out of the bath safely or perhaps calling for help.

I think very often booze, and age,  are involved with these things.

That was the only case I've ever heard of,  but for all we know it might be nothing new in some places, especially after a night out boozing.

I think it's a sign of the times, actually.
Wen ah wer a lad, we'd all go out and get drunk.  Actually, once when I ran across a road, a car almost knocked be down.  Luckily, the driver wasn't drunk and stopped immediately.

Of course, things today have changed enormously.  Britain is no longer a safe place, especially some areas.

I agree about the safety now.
But I think this might have been going on for a lot longer than we know.
The lad I told you about  was over 30 years ago now.

I am not so sure parts of London, or any big city,  have ever been 'safe', anyway.
There  have always been gangs around.   Look back at the Krays for example,  and that was over 60 years ago.
