I only had a 3 door car once, that was more than enough, Soooooo much hassle. Every car I've had since the early 90s has been a 5 door one.

I prefer 3 doors, plenty of space to put your handbag behind the seat.   My Aunty Vi was in her 80s I often took her to Parkgate for an ice cream, she always said my car was best as the door space was wider and easier for her to get in.  It's what you're used to I suppose.

Gone are the days when I carried grandchildren in the back of the car..
It is usually just me and my mate.. Never use the back seats..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I haven't got any grandchildren,  but my dogs have always sat in the back and kept me company.

Between them my kids and their partners have got some lovely cars. Heated seats, one has a massage feature, in car TV, built in sat navs and phone connections, four wheel drive, automatics.  The newest is a hybrid Range Rover.  Not been in that one yet.  Ours is just a basic, ageing car.   We had a new clutch put in, OH reckons that's doubled the value!  🤣
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

My son has got one of those with a heated passenger seat.
It feels ever so strange till you get used to it, doesn't it.

Easier to these days for sure. When the MOT came due on most of mine back then I'd scrap them and get another jalopy. Spent as much time fixing them as driving them.
