Thank you for the days, the days you gave me

You'd need a big bag to make a killing in Poundland! We get thefts from the charity shop.

It's a good move IMO, I wish all businesses could take a hard line.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Last time I went in one there were loads of things dearer than £1. I wonder how many get caught out thinking something costs a quid when it is actually two or three or maybe more.

Not able to pick the link up..

Poundland should not go under that name anymore.. It just isn't true..
It can be confusing for some.
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Was it you had a link issue the other day?

Try this... It may well still not work though as it depends what is going wrong

I've just removed the query string bit which shouldn't be needed and indeed isn't for me.

I doubt it's the length but here is a shortened one...

Do you get any error messages or what exactly happens

I particularly liked this bit:

" Before Christmas a prolific shoplifter who targeted Poundland as well as other retailers in Gloucestershire was charged with trespassing and burglary rather than any lesser charges and received an 18-month custodial sentence. The retailer is also now rolling out body cameras to scores of stores with the most significant crime issues, following a successful trial across its estate."

'Trespass and burglary' ey,  at least that got a more sensible sentence than a shoplifter would normally  get.

My daughter told me that her M&S store loses at least a couple of hundred every day through shoplifting.  The police rarely get involved.

This is where the use of facial recognition technology would be useful, coupled with a simple and effective law which enabled shops to get a court order enabling them to use bailiffs to visit these thieves' homes and workplaces to acquire money to the value of the goods stolen, legal fees etc.

Trouble is that the liberals amongst us all would fight tooth and nail against one of the very things which would make their own lives safer and cheaper!

Must be the length then. The other possibility was something screwy with your connection failing to locate some websites but that is now ruled out. I asked ChatGPT and it just wittered about Safari and iPad possibly having issues which I doubt but one specifically mentioned old iPads so maybe if yours is old it can't cope.

That woulodn't work, Dex, about the bailiffs.   What about the thieves who are homeless?  How would a bailiff pay them a visit?
Most of these thieves probably flog whatever they've nicked,  so there wouldn't be much for the bailiff's to see anyway.

You also say about visiting workplaces?   I would imagine their workplace is in whichever store they happen to be in at the time!
And anyway,  I can't imagine anyone keeping anything of value in their work place in the first place?   Did you keep pots of money with you when you were out at work?

You'd be surprised Mups, by how many shoplifters aren't homeless and destitute.  I'm sure we'd all be ok'ish to cut some people some slack, but not those who are doing it out of greed and who can well afford to pay.

As for bailiffs visiting workplaces, one would imagine that the embarrassment might deter reoffending, and put others off.
