My Word

Seeing a joke posted on this forum based on a clever pun reminded me that when the BBC was worth listening to they ran a weekly radio show called "My Word" which was about words and their meanings. Allegedly it was a panel game where one team would win on points. The team leaders were Denis Norden and Frank Muir who were probably the best script writers ever to walk the planet. At the end of the show each of them would tell a made up story purporting to explain the derivation of a well known quotation or saying and whichever got the most applause from the studio audience would be declared the winner, all based on puns as I recall.
