Scrumpy

Good old Zoe Ball .. You know her.. one of the BBC top earners..

This morning she said..
'We are all feeling snotty here , but we will get through'

I dislike the word SNOTTY.. when talking about colds and noses..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Alex

Very descriptive though Scrumps

Scrumpy

We used to say that someone was  'Snotty '..  When we thought a person was stuck up..

Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

A dictionary definition, just to clarify:

SNOT

noun
us

Add to word list
[ U ] slang
a green or yellow substance sometimes produced in the nose, esp. when a person has a cold
Numquam credere Gallicum

Yes, I agree, snotty is a very ugly word. She should have said "We are all trailing bogies here".

Ruthio

Nooooooo!
Bogey is a far more revolting word than snotty!!

Yes,  we did as well.

Here too. Words meanings can change over the years - the hijacking of the word gay that changed its meaning entirely. Geographically too as many words here mean something different in the US - examples being pavement fag or chips. Plus what about youngsters calling something sick (if they still do).

Scrumpy

We used to say 'Bent' when referring to a gay person..

I am sure  'He is as bent as a five bob note' was said..
We didn't have many gay people back in my day.. They were all hidden in the closet..
 Sad really..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Hello , I'm Julian and this is my friend Sandy.

As a young boy, I used to laugh at Kenneth Williams and Hugh Paddick without a clue as to what was going on. True comedy , when it works on two levels.
The problem with being retired is that you never get a day off

Didn't see many effeminate men presumably because homosexual acts were illegal for them but I can remember women with short hair wearing trousers. I just thought they were a little odd.

As I recall here we were rather more upmarket and ours was a nine bob note

Scrumpy
