In any case, since they tend to be anti unfettered immigration, it's hardly surprising.
And after they have 'solved' unfettered immigration? Who is next...will the mob go home, prune their roses and have jam for tea?
You cannot control or direct a mob, it's a living thing, its sole purpose is destruction...
You only have to look to the past...'First they came' Martin Niemoller.

I know.  We're all human beings, all trying to make the best go of things in our lives.

Are you happy with the level/rate of immigration Vlad?  Should we just grin and bear it?

Slightly off-topic, I suppose, but what a good question.
As it has been raised, I must honestly state that I am dead set against the level of immigration into this country, especially the immigrants coming here illegally yet who are being welcomed by our glorious leaders.

Regarding Trump, I admire the man and he will (I hope) be elected as President.  If only we could have a leader like him, this sad, broken country might yet be restored to something like we have had throughout my earlier life.

Quote from: Mups on October 29, 2024, 01:44:09 PMit never seems right that folks only get a choice of  2 to vote for!
There are often independent candidates but they usually drop out before it gets to the ballot. I think there are some still standing this year but none have any chance of winning.

As for who stands for each of the two main parties that gets decided at the primaries. It wasn't done that way for Harris this time as Biden had the Democrat nomination and was the incumbent anyway. He dropped out after the primaries had finished and Harris was shoehorned in.

A very famous 'independent' stood down and decided to back Donald Trump

Alex

The last ten days have flown by so tonight's the night !
At least the beginning of a very important vote.  Hopefully Trump will win, they say he's out of control - he's not, he's just out of their control  (Tucker Carlson)

Will you be watching ?

Who was that? Shrek?

And no, I'll not be watching.

I assume that if Trump wins then he'll be shouting how the voting system is fake and rigged?  Seems a shame to waste all those pre-prepared speeches and fliers.

There are genuine questions about their postal votes just as there are for ours which have resulted in convictions for falsification. IMO all postal voting other than those bedridden or overseas should be stopped. I have a postal vote from the days I had a static caravan and most of the summer was spent there. I don't need it and tried to find out how I could cancel it - there is no obvious way to. For me the polling station is closer than the post box.

https://www.westnorthants.gov.uk/search?type=search&searchTerm=cancel%20postal%20vote

I decided to phone them.
On hold. Breath not being held.
I've been on a while and just got told I am [inaudible] in the queue and my estimated wait is 12 minutes.
Same message with no estimated wait and it sounded like first in queue.
Still being told first in queue with estimated wait 10 minutes.
I'm guessing whoever it is I need to speak to is working from home and has nipped out for a packet of fags.
8 minutes.

It didn't go the full time so presumably the queue was shorter than expected. With the price of fags these days hardly surprising. I got told that the postal vote will be removed. I'm not 100% convinced I asked about what ID I'd  need to vote. She said passport, driving licence and on further questioning came up with bus pass and voting authority. I asked what that was and she didn't really know. She did say I could get it on the gov.uk website which I will amuse myself by trying.

This voter id thing seems a possible way to ensure lots of pensioners don't take their revenge. I gave up my passport a while back. I may at some point give up my driving licence. They will probably bin our bus passes in the next budget when all the rich have deserted this sinking ship. That just leaves the internet which probably half of pensioners don't even use.

Easier than I thought. I don't actually need one but will apply anyway.

It won't give me one as I have a driving licence.

If Harris wins I hope she will make psychiatry available free.

Trump does say some stupid things and horrible remarks about his opponent..
But so does Harris.. Saw her mouth working on GMB this morning..

She hopes that hugging Oprah Winfrey will win her votes..  I do hope not..
Anyway it is raining on the east coast.. Just like us, the American voters do not like the rain..
.. and the east coast is an area that would vote for Harris..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I heard that 50% of the votes were already cast before today.

dextrous63

I'd heard that over 128% of votes had already been cast😬😬
