Top tips indeed.  Although one can overcome the mash potato issue by adding double cream and butter if needs be.  In fact, I'd advise using the brandy butter since you'll be too stuffed for dessert, so you might as well have a taste of the only good thing anyway.

Christmas. Sigh. The proper 12 days are more than enough.

Quote from: Mups on October 26, 2024, 02:36:28 PMI must have got a bit over-excited this year, because not only have I bought all my Christmas cards,  but written on them and stuck stamps on the envelopes all ready to post.
Only got a couple more pressies left to get now, too.
Beat that then!

I bloody hate people like you!!! 🤣🤣

Cream in mashed potatoes, yes please! I will be relaxing my somewhat limited food choices over Christmas, too many goodies not to.

I agree with Vlad re carrot sticks. The only carrots 🥕 at Christmas should be honey glazed and roasted to go with the sprouts. 😘
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Parsnips coated in honey and roasted..

Shops in full swing now, lovely decorations and some street lights are up already.  If people get enjoyment from the build up who cares ?

I do mashed cauliflower with cream, butter and garlic, trying to kid myself it's potato mash

I enjoy Christmas Day no matter if it's just the two of us, or the family's come up. We have no children now as Lily's the youngest at 23 years.
If it's the two of us and the weather's fine we get on with the chores have lunch then away for a hack in the hills with the Clydes, and telly in the evening after dinner.
If the family's up then it's the same thing chore wise, then a family walk someplace and finish up in the village local, then home for dinner.
When my sisters and I were growing up it was the 12 days tradition for every family and a lot less of the fuss that goes on these days. I prefer it that way it goes on too long for me.
This is me around 5 years old staring into the Christmas Display in one of the shop windows.

Lovely photo Raven.  Life was so much more simple, a wee bit of a Christmas scene and a few toys in a shop window was all we needed.

I had a brown leather schoolbag just like yours 👍🏽
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

That's lovely Raven.

Here's a picture of Mups when she was about 5 years old

She's the one on the far left 😬

I have not even thought of Christmas cards .
Much less presents .
Actually I don't send presents .
Just money to the grandkids and that's it .

Mups

That's YOU off my Christmas pressy list, Dex.
