I have children and grandchildren so I still care. I'm afraid I can do nothing though so it will be down to them. I wonder how many of my descendants will be named Mohammed.

Of course, but you have had the good sense to emigrate to a more civilised country with a future.
If I could, I would... though I'd take Marge with me too.

I hav
Quote from: klondike on September 23, 2024, 09:05:19 AMLidl have an excellent system too. I can pick just about any day and a convenient time at the very last minute and change my mind on any buying item right up to the moment the checkout operator scans it.

I have Ocado, and have always been pleased with them.    I like some M & S food,  and I order that through Ocado, too.

They check my bill and compare it,  and if it has come to more from them than it would have from Tesco's, they  refund  the difference.

I too, can amend my order up until the night before the delivery.  Plus I can book a 1 hour time slot.

Quote from: Ashy on September 19, 2024, 07:48:53 AMIt'll probably result in clubcards being binned. This is only the beginning. The nutcases trying to rule the world would actually prevent you from buying things when you reach your limit. I've practically stopped using Tesco since they stopped selling large bottles of milk, and if I buy sweets and cakes they have no idea who I am feeding and for what period.
Since when have they stopped selling large bottles of milk ?

I have just started with Ocado .. My first delivery was FREE..
That is interesting that they compare their bill to that of Tesco...
Is that done automatically.. ?
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Alex

Do you have a minimum spend with Ocado ?

I didn't notice anything like that..

We use Ocado regularly.  As far as I know there is no minimum spend, but then I suppose Marge does all that sort of thing.
Oh, and if you give them back all their (still usable) plastic bags, you get 10p for each one!!!!!!

Shoppers' fury over 'flimsy' covers replacing plastic lids on Tesco hummus pots - saying 'eco-friendliness has gone too far'

Not just hummus pots, coleslaw, all dips, all sandwiche spreads, and the covers on the big yoghurt pots.......Infuriating.  :yell:

I see nothing wrong with those covers.. Sometimes people just like to have a moan..

Fine if it's to be used all at once, but not otherwise. Especially the big yoghurt tubs, I used to buy them for Dageus to keep his dickie tummy under control, he only got a tablespoon at night before bed. The plastic lid kept it fresh.

Yes Alex.   Their minimum spend for delivery is £40,  except for Christmas week, then the price increases for just that one week.

As JBR just said,  they also buy the used carrier bags back again for 10p a bag too,  and refund it to you.

I started using them just before last Christmas when I wasn't too well and didn't feel safe to drive,  and I have always been pleased with them.

They are always very helpful on the phone with any queries too.

I also pay £22.49  for what they call a 'Smart Pass.'    This is every 6 months,  and entitles me to free deliveries each week.
When you work this out,  it means if you want an order every week,  the delivery charge only costs 93p  per order, so well worth it in my view.  Plus you get first choices of Christmas week deliveries too.

Tesco stopped selling 6 pint bottles of milk from July last year.

These flimsy lids are not recyclable but they're probably cheaper for the shopkeepers. On the other hand, once peeled off they are useless. So is the container; we can't repurpose them for paint etc. and for yoghurt and things that keep for a while we'll have to supply our own containers, like my grandmother did before milk bottles were invented.
