On a more general note, I wonder why Starmer is cutting payments to our older people.

I suppose that if he is 'obliged' to pay to keep the many non-productive illegal immigrants who are still arriving en masse, he must feel that he has to obtain that money from somewhere.

Doesn't it make you feel happy that, as we are losing payments we have been receiving for some time, we are at least providing for those poor people from the Middle East?

Simply overjoyed  After all the world revolves around those poor picked on people........Doesn't it?

I hope they don't turn their attention to free prescriptions and decide that only those on Pension Credit are eligible !

Season tickets didn't used to be exorbitant but probably are now. Could lead to some just giving up on meds so they can kill off a few more of us.

We can afford to heat the house, we're well in credit ready for winter. I think our generation are used to budgeting.  Free prescriptions are a real help, we have seven items between us.  And I use my free bus pass.

Same here Mike, I get it too. It just got paid automatically to Pension drawers. I do consider it my right though especially when this loathsome administration gives it all to bloody train drivers earning a fortune anyway; or to the brain damaged Miilipede to spray it x 11 to 'overseas countries or energy conservation'.

More likely new helicopters, or Maybach Mercs for their dictator rulers.

Alternatively Starmer no doubt admires such tin hats and encourages the 'investment' ...

from observation if they do take the passes away that could happen. either that or they give the buss companies the money they would have got for carrying passengers for doing nowt. a high proportion of day passengers seem to be pensioners and the bus fares aren't cheap. no pass will reduce numbers for sure. i don't use mine much now anyway but it would be never if i had to pay.

Did you delay your retirement?  The lower basic pension was paid to those of us reaching 60 or 65 before April 2016.  Anyone retiring after that, on a basic pension, gets roughly £50 a week more.

We chose to live here because it's on a tram route.  We have a free park and ride minutes away, we'd never drive into town now.

i enquired about that as i only misssed by a year. it wouldn't have put me on the new scheme. you do get a small increase in pension that might make up for the lost year eventually but that's all.

No, I didn't delay.  I retired at 60 in 2012, and glad to be out of it, so on the lower state pension.
Marge also retired at about the same time, but she is still only 62 years old, so no state pension for her.
Fortunately, we have both had the foresight to make provision for our 'old' age.

Oh yes, I admit to being a cradle-snatcher, but Marge is happy.

I'm another lower pension recipient, less 10 years out of the country so I didn't have enough stamps.  I do have a works pension thank goodness

Ah, well.  We all make mistakes, and that just goes to prove that we are not all perfect (though I come close).

Yes, born in the Year of Our Lord 1952; retired in 2012 at age 60, and not a moment too soon, thank you.
