It would be useful if their ads indicated what percentage of the money donated actually ends up with the people/animal/whatever.

Scrumpy

I would give to local animal charities.. Not the big ones..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I always give to the Savation Army at Christmas .
They do so much for the homeless .
I have asked them not to send me begging letters/ Christmas cards / etc
It's such a waste of trees.

I do have several more charities whic I support by DD .

Nonetheless I get besieged at this time of year by begging letters .

Yes, I have given to the Donkey Sanctuary for a long time, Muddy.
I also give to a dog rescue  I know,   but neither of these places have ever once asked me to increase my D/D.

On the other hand,  a friend of mine used to give to the RSPCA,  but never expected them to write and ask for more money!    Being the kind person she is,  she did increase her payment at first,  but then they kept on asking her to increase it again  -  and again.
She was really getting fed up with it, but they still kept on,  so I told her I would stop my D/D  altogether if they did that to me.

She cancelled her payment,  and it's their own fault entirely.

Now then, here's another thing that irritates me....wet sinks and draining boards.

Ooh yes.

And slobs.  The worst places are communal kitchens! I avoided them at work if I could, but I have to use the kitchen in the charity shop as I hate to see dirty glasses and china on display.  So I wash them. I hate to think what some people's kitchens are like. 🤢
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Tell me about it!! I mentioned somewhere about getting into work early to avoid morning traffic.  While cooking myself a bit of brekkie in a microwave, I spent a "pleasant" few minutes washing plates and mugs in our office's sink, and returning cutlery to the school dining room.

How my colleagues felt it was ever acceptable not to rinse wash this stuff after use, and also felt it was fine to pile up in the sink remains a mystery to me.  Selfish and slobby!!!

I bet some of the top restaurants can be a bit iffy..
I can't bear dirty tea towels and dish cloths..
I have been in some homes where I wouldn't even drink a glass of water..

Dirty toilets.

Ooh yes.  Disgusting.   No excuse for leaving a toilet dirty.

I don't understand why there aren't brushes in public toilets.

klondike

Because some would either

Decorate the walls using them
Steal them
Brush their hair with them

dextrous63

Okey dokey. I get that.  After all, some people can't quite bring themselves to pick up any loo paper that has fluttered to the floor and shove that down the pan.

Perhaps toilets could incorporate a different way of flushing so that the pan gets a bit more of a, er, robust cleansing🤷🏻♂️

When I was younger, there used to be a woman working in the public toilets.  Her job was to make sure the floors and loos were kept clean.
Not sure, but can anyone remember whether she used to take the 'pennies'   too?

Don't suppose anyone would want to do that job nowadays.   I must say - I wouldn't want to be shut in a public loo all day and every day,  not for any amount of wages.

I seem to remember the men never had to pay to use the Gents,  so why should the women?
