Those tape measures.

I noticed that one had slunk away. While (unsuccessfully) looking for it I did find the one that went into hiding earlier and lead to me buying the two new ones. It was with another which I only vaguely remember that went AWOL ages ago but I never noticed at the time. Neither were there when I looked before. They are toying with me.

Not sure. I'd have to take hourly audits to be certain. Enough to be able to find one eventually if I need it. I can always buy more as they are cheap but I'm terrified that they might all come back together and the floor boards could give way.

I started on the audit and have found the one from the two I bought is sneaking back. A careful look to the right of the yellow one (this was the one that vanished for ages which I brought downstairs and put it the draw devoid of a tape measure) and it can just be seen tunnelling up from the netherworld and having reached just as far as below the scissors.
