Morning, Sheeeze what a filthy day. Rain Rain and more Rain all day, Stable work this morning and then off to the Leisure Centre, Dunc's decided he needs a spell in the pool, sauna and finish in the jacuzzi, so who am I to argue, I don't like the sauna but I like the steam room especially when they have it loaded up with eucalyptus, it smells lovely and really clears my breathing. It's usually a winter thing for me though.

I'm all behind today,  but better late than never, ey.

Yesterday morning I went to get a final hearing aid problem sorted,  then had to dash home because
my son and d.i.l.  were taking me and another lady  out to  dinner to celebrate the end of their anniversary festivities.   
We went to a very posh and beautiful place, which was built back in 1550  and is listed on the English Heritage Register.  It has many facilities inside, and beautiful grounds surrounding it as well.
It is a hotel,  but have a Orangery,  which you can book for weddings,  an outdoor Spa,  Restaurant,  Hotel,  daily exercise classes,  Karati,  Tai Chi,  Ballroom  dancing - and lots more.
 
We had a lovely meal,  with outstanding service.  The waiters/waitresses  treated us like royalty -  you wouldn't get that in Macdonalds.     I felt  like I was in Downton Abbey, and was half expecting Carson to appear, and guests to arrive in a stagecoach with horses.

Beautiful sunshine.. I have some long.. lined curtains on the line.. And they are drying !!

A dull old day here,  drizzling with rain, and looks like it rained all night too.

Might pop down to Dunelm and look at some new curtains . . .  then again -  I might not.

Oh dear,   just found another Rat tunnel going under my shed this morning.  
Looks like I'd better get baiting.

Talking of pets, do you allow yours to sleep on your bed?

Klondie,  no fear,  I don't want my two chasing rats.   They carry a lot of disease and I wouldn't want my dog with one in its mouth.   
Apart from that, many years ago one of my old German Shepherds  gave out such a loud yelp one day,  and when I went out the back door to see what was wrong,  he had got a big fat rat hanging off his bottom lip!
My Ben was a very gentle boy,  and probably saw the rat and went to sniff it,  and the bloody thing bit Ben and wouldn't let go.   The more Ben shook his head to try and dislodge it,  the harder the thing hung on to him.

Ben's poor mouth was bleeding rather a lot,  and he was very distressed with this thing still hanging on his jaw.
Eventually it let go and scarpered,  and I had to get Benny in the car and straight to the vets to check the wound and give him an injection.

With my two nowadays,  one hasn't got any killer instinct whatsoever,  and the other one is old and has bad cataracts now,  so not a good idea.

Touch wood I haven't seen any rats .....yet .
But a week or so back my brother saw a weasel run into my back garden so I am hoping he is doing some good in that department .
I don't know if weasels would attack a large rat though they are only small.

Oooer . . .  we just had a power cut here -  and its not even winter yet.

Lights suddenly flashed,  then the telly went off, washing machine stopped,  and everywhere went dark.

I went and looked at the fuse box but couldn't see anything wrong there,  then a few minutes later the landline started bleeping and making funny noises,  and suddenly everything came back on again.
Thank goodness for that.
I wonder what that was all about?

My son had been trying to block off access to the bottom of his shed where that rat came from but Jack Russells were bred for rat catching and its in their blood. That's his first rat but he has had mice before.
