I wonder if they will still run it in this heat?

Yes Friday to Sunday. They'll still run it I suppose. Hope they don't set light to the Racecourse.

All that messes them up usually is wind. As I'm sure Vlad could tell us and possibly might they can't get them to erect properly in the wind - they just flop down which is no good to anybody, Plus they don't want to end up over Russia.

I used to sometimes see them come over here.  I'll have to keep an eye out.
I could sometimes hear that loud roaring noise they make as they float over too.
Have you ever been in one?

My friend and her husband had a balloon ride for their 25th wedding anniversary years back.
I don't think I would want to go up in one though - in fact No,  I know I wouldn't.

I agree.   Even more so in this intense heat.

Those flames must be very loud when you're standing next to them if I can easily hear them from down on the ground.   I would not like to be up there standing that close to them.

Did anyone see the eclipse tonight?

There I sat,  (for ages),   sheet of paper and colander in hand, waiting and waiting  -  Nothing!
Double checked the time for this area, waited a bit longer -  still nothing other than a very bright, dazzling sun. 
An hour passed - still nothing.    

Got fed up so went and made a cuppa.

Did anyone else have more luck than I did?

I would have liked to have seen it,  because I doubt any of us will be around for the next big one -   in 2090!

I bought some eclipse glasses and watched parts of it. They aren't all that exciting so I never had any intention of sitting through a couple of hours of it. Only very early stages visible from the garden as there are houses in the way but saw the 10 minutes or so to maximum from an upstairs window.

In all honesty I'm an aurora person, not an eclipse person.
Soon be the start of this year's aurora season, looking forward to it.
