Quote from: Alex on June 08, 2026, 10:33:50 PMIt was Scrumps, I've lost part of my nail so looks awful.  The thing went in the bin, I'll stick to a knife and cheese grater in future.

Part of your nail !!!! Blimey is that all.. For a moment I thought you had lost two fingers..!!

Taking my mate.. who doesn't drive anymore to the doctors for a RSV jab..
They told her to pop in this morning anytime she likes ..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Morning all.
Bright and sunny here, although the sky is coming over really black.

Waiting in for the courier to bring me another lovely Salvia for my collection.
I thought this one was very pretty.   (Sorry for the huge piccy,  I couldn't make it any smaller).

Don't know what to make of the weather today. Forecast shows rain but there has been none. Big thick clouds with gaps so it's bright sun one minute and dull the next. None too warm either despite that north wind stopping over a week ago. I blame Starmer.

Very pretty plant Mups..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I mean the part of your nail that's attached to your finger !  not the dead bit we file
I had a busy day today, fair bit of driving and then once back home we had cheese toasties at a Garden Centre and a cuppa !

Yes cooking is a dangerous pursuit. I've burned my fingers many times removing the film off a ready meal.

Might trim hedges today.. The weather will decide..

I upgraded the WiFi card in my laptop yesterday. In doing it I confirmed some rules of the universe which will need including in any Theory of Everything that scientists come up with.

During the removal of tiny screws at least one will always be dropped. It will end up a surprisingly long distance from any possible point it could be.

The search will necessitate fetching a torch and some glasses. By the time the screw is finally found and put with the others you will have misplaced the screwdriver you were using.

The smallest head in the screwdriver set you are using will be marginally too large for the screws but suffices for all but one.

You will be unable to locate the really tiny precision screwdriver set you resorted to buying last time you did a job like this.

You may eventually get the job done using a really tiny flathead blade instead of the crosshead or you may have to buy another set of tiny precision screwdrivers.

The 5 minute job will have taken at least an hour so far.

Once complete and you have installed the drivers and the new card is working you will find something else has stopped working.

In this case the touchpad which will guide the cursor but nothing else. You find and reinstall the touchpad drivers. Same error so you take it all to bits to look for a problem and see nothing but reseat the ribbon cable for the touchpad.

You test it and it is working.

You screw the back on.

It has stopped working.

In the old days you would now spend just about forever on google. Now you spend probably longer consulting AI. Amongst the many suggestions there is one that the probable problem is crosstalk between the touchpad cable and the antenna leads. The power consumed by AI has probably raised the global temperature but it's still bloody chilly outside for this time of year. You don't believe the AI diagnosis but do reroute the WiFi antenna cables - a process that involves insulating tape and looks a real mess.

It actually works.

An additional law of nature.
The thing you were looking for yesterday will return from one of the 11 curled up dimensions required by string theories to one available to our senses in one of the places you looked yesterday.
