Quote from: CHF on April 23, 2026, 02:07:03 PMMy sympathy, I used to get them as a child.
So did I.
Didn't we used to use something called  'Golden Eye Ointment'  on them?
Or I remember hearing it said to rub a gold ring gently over them.   Something to do with the gold healing I think.

I use a plug in fingerprint reader on my laptop. It stopped working the other day. I assumed a cut finger was stopping it but the phone was still ok. Got around to testing it and found it is deceased entirely. Bunged it in bin ordered a passkey instead. Then thought - I don't think I've had that long, Checked and I got it on Amazon June last year. Went through problem with product routine which put me into chat. Got full refund no need to return so it can go back in bin. Result.

Yes, Mups, my goodness, I'd forgotten 'Golden Eye Ointment,' my mother bought it
from the newsagent's/village store.  I hadn't heard about the gold ring treatment.

Lovely outside today, time for a coffee in the garden before the weekly trip to Mc Donalds later.

I had terrible chilblains when I was a child .
I can only imagine it was from inadequate footwear and waiting at bus stops
I was always cold .
I don't think anyone gets chilblains nowadays ?

CHF

I never had chillblains, but many of my friends did.

It's a different world now.......

Golden Eye Ointment is exactly what the pharmacist at Boots recommended and sold me last week.
It doesn't hurt any more, so from that point of view it's very much better, but still red and swollen, I suppose it will eventually disappear but it's taking its time!

Good grief Ruthio,  I didn't even know they still made it.
What a pity you didn't ask the pharmacist earlier, and it might have gone by now.
