Changing your package is his job. That will have put you into a fresh 12 month or more contract which as I said earlier is their business model.

Hopefully the engineer will sort it out. Unfortunately you have now lost the threat of leaving any time soon if they don't.

What's more is,  I have just received a text from them saying I will be charged  £25 for the engineer's visit.    She never mentioned a thing about charging me when I phoned!

Scrumpy

Don't pay it Mups.. protest..
How can they charge you to install a new router in order to solve the problems you are having..Problems that should be put right by them..
You cannot tell me that EVERY customer knows how to replace a Router..

Imo they are a horrible company that take advantage of people. When I got crap service from them I wrote to the CEO. They maintain an office to handle such things. My complaint was sorted out. It was about being able to leave penalty free as I was sick of them.

Explain that you complained about poor performance and were bamboozled into an account upgrade and installing a new router which is beyond your ability. When you phoned to get that sorted they said an engineer would be sent and only later was a charge mentioned.

This has some details...

The CEO address in there is well outdated though I think it is email at [email protected].

That stacks up with Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgin_Media

Thank you, and I will have to sort all that out, Klondike,  but God knows when, as there is yet another problem first.

At the moment I'm in yet another pickle!
Went to GP this afternoon with bad stomach pains which have been ongoing.

After he poked and prodded me,  he told me he was sending me to hospital!

"When"   said I.
"Now"  he said!!    I told him I can't night drive along that A14 now, not with those dazzling oncoming headlights, and pouring rain as well.   So he  promptly arranged an ambulance to come and collect me.
He suspected an Appendicitis!

I was in a right old panic.  It was 6 pm, tea time.  I hadn't fed the dogs or had anything myself,  so shot off home to see to the animals, and pack a bag incase they kept me in.

Then at 8 pm they hadn't arrived, and then I got a phone call from the dept. that organizes the ambulance routes, a very nice lady,  and to cut a long story short, I persuaded her to arrange it for tomorrow morning if possible, and she said OK.   But if I get in worse pain during the night,  I am to ring 999.

So that has created another problem now.   I have had to cancel the bloody Virgin engineer tomorrow incase the hospital wants to keep me in!

I have no idea what's going to happen tomorrow, nor how long I will be away,  but I will try and keep in touch.
I am sure someone, somewhere, is sticking pins in me . . .

Scrumpy

Oh!! Mups....
It's all happening for you... As soon as you said hospital I thought of your dogs...and wished I lived nearby to collect them and bring them here with me.. safe..
I do hope all goes well for you.. and it is a false alarm..
Let us know  what happens today..  I'll get you some grapes..x

Best of luck.

I recall my wife thought she may have appendicitis. She did take some antacid or other and a while later let rip one I'd have been proud of and went back to sleep.

Just to let you  know I am home again.
I climbed out the loo window,  slid down the drainpipe outside, and legged it.

I am being silly of course,  because I am so happy to be home again.

It was a bit of a nightmare trying to get there,  because as I said earlier,  the ambulance didn't turn up last night, and when they rang me to apologise, I said they might as well leave it till this morning.  (I didn't want to leave my dogs overnight on their own).

Well this morning came and went,  and guess what . . . . no ambulance again!!
I tried ringing them several times, but no luck.
In the end they rang me back about lunch time and apologised once more.   They said they were so busy with people needing ambulances and still hadn't got to me.

Then she said something that really surprised me.   She offered to send a taxi, would you believe!
I asked how much that would cost, and was told 'Nothing',  it will be paid for by the NHS.
Can you believe it??   I was both very surprised, and very grateful.  I had no idea they could do that.

Another 2 and half hours passed,  then the car finally turned up.   He had come all the way from the
somewhere between Leicester and Burton on Trent.   Crikey!   He said his firm have a contract with the NHS.
A very nice chatty, friendly chap he was,  and eventually got me there safely,  albeit nearly 24 hrs later  than my GP planned.

After all that rambling about the journey,  I forgot to tell you what happened at the hospital.

The first lady just talked to me to find out what had been happening etc,  then someone else  did an ECG,  followed by another lady doing blood tests.  She left a canula in my arm incase the doc wanted more tests later.
I was sitting about in the waiting room on and off for hours,  between each test.

Eventually, round about tea time,  a doc called me in and after prodding and poking my poor tummy,  he said he didn't think it was appendix .    He reckoned it was an diverticular flare up, and  the previous antibiotics I had been given the week before by my surgery, weren't the right ones, ( ) and he wanted me to have a different one to kill the inflammation.

He then wrote a prescription and sent me along to their pharmacy,  where I sat till nearly 8 pm tonight  until it was  done.    I was almost nodding off by then,  but a voice woke me up and it was my son and d.i.l.  arrived to  take me home.
I've got to try these different meds for 3-4 days and if still in pain,  go back and tell my GP.

I am so, so pleased to be home with my pooches again.  They went loopy when I walked in, bless 'em.    Fingers cross these different tablets do the job ey.

Thank you folks for your kind thoughts and good wishes,  much appreciated.  x x
