Quote from: Raven on Today at 10:26:34 AMI know how you feel GM, 6 weeks is a long time. When my knees were done I had an automatic so driving was not too bad when I started again, I think a manual might have been harder. But you do have your daughter to keep you on the straight and narrow, can I advise you to take her with you the first time you drive.......Just incase you find your not quite ready, and she can drive you home.
We have a manual.  My OH will be with me, my daughter is working most days, I'll be fine with him. We won't go far 😬

I've had a good walk, on my own this morning. Took my library books back, had a seat.  Walked through the park, sat on a bench.  Popped into the charity shop to see a couple of staff, sat there for a while.  Then got the bus home.  I might just have a rest after lunch! 😁
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Quote from: Vlad on Today at 10:53:49 AMFor the second time in the last 6 months we have had no electricity woke up Monday morning just after 7 am no l

reported it to the National Grid on my mobile, landline obviously down too. Report noted....and that was it until 9.47 pm Monday night!
So it was candle time..it looked like the Vatican on Easter Sunday. Thank God we have a Gas Hob.
It is quite scary in a sense on how reliant we are on electricity. No working chair lift...no Ring camera system..no communication by landlinr
The old fashioned landline itself wouldn't have been down. If you were using a DECT wireless set that would have had no power but a wired phone could have been plugged in. I'm not sure what they do with the lines they replace with fibre but I'd guess the sockets for those may still work too. VOIP lines provided with fibre internet depend on the router being powered.

Overall there is little justification for a landline any more imo. I ditched mine in favour of mobiles quite a few years ago.

I was once a fully paid up military member of The Mushroom Club, we were fed on the brown stuff and kept in the dark...was that what you were thinking? 😀

Vlad

I had to go to my GP today ( the phone was answered almost immediately and I got an afternoon appointment) 👍🏻 I have been having problems with my hearing.
The doctor asked me if I could describe the symptoms, I said, "Homer is the fat guy and Marge has blue hair"

Sorry!

Quote from: Alex on Yesterday at 08:06:19 PMWaited all day for a delivery, it didn't arrive.  Maybe tomorrow (sighs)
I too,  waited in for a builder to turn up,  bloody fly-by-night  never came.
If these people have a change of plan and can't get to us,  fair enough,  but what really makes me mad is that they never have the decency to let you know they are not coming.    Grrr. . . .
